Good Location

The hotel is in a great location in terms of proximity to things. I do think it’s important to note that the train nearby is pretty consistent and although not loud, there is regular noise so if you need total silence keep this in mind. The staff was very nice and it’s a great price so I am happy to have booked this hotel. Also I didn’t try it, but my partner loved the onsen.

The location of this hotel is great, but the room is extremely small for two people. Cleanliness is already. I’ve found a few old yellow stains on the bed, and the pillows are extremely uncomfortable

Cons - Room was ridiculously small such that we couldn’t unpack or access our cases without lifting them into the bed. No storage areas other than a small hanging rail. The bed had just enough room to access it on the window side by squeezing along the narrow gap. The bathroom was just big enough to contain the toilet and shower cubicle. The “view” was of the train rattling past directly outside our window. The noise was fairly minimal and we used earplugs for sleeping. Pros - We didn’t need to use the room shower as we visited the lovely onsen in the evenings. This was the highlight of the hotel and a nice touch that they offered many complimentary toiletries and Yakult drinks, ice pops and ramen (untried). Luckily we only stayed 2 nights. I would suggest this hotel should only be considered for a short stay for a single or couple without a child. The rate was one of the highest I’ve paid for a 3 star hotel room of this standard.

We came to the Dormy on a recommendation from a friend. We found the hotel pleasant and also busy with folks and families taking advantage of the numerous amenities, including access to laundry, public baths, drinks and nightly noodles and ice cream, each very appreciated. Overall, we were pleased with the location having not understood fully the logistics of the city as it is generally located a fair walking distance from the station and two or three different shopping and social areas. They both received our luggage shipped ahead from our previous hotel and kindly held it for us after check out so we could see more of the town before taking the train. The only downside was my error in not realizing the amenities might impact room size. I booked the only room style available for our dates, a double which proved to be too small for our circumstances (but might work for a married couple or a single). The hotel did look to see if we could make an adjustment however they were fully booked so we made due. A highlight of the stay was the complementary noodles served by the very cheerful chef. I also took advantage of the laundry and the public bath both which were busy but accessible. We will definitely look at the Dormy franchise again when in Japan next and perhaps try a larger room. Thank you!
