The property was very nice overall. But the best part was the staff, very kind, responsive, and accommodating. Roberto in the restaurant was absolutely awesome. He was welcoming and attentive and even brought the kids a basket of donuts for national donut day. Worth coming back just for staff interactions. The front desk was always helpful and helped us to book transportation, car rental, excursions, seamlessly.

My boyfriend and I got the Oceanfront king bed mini pool room. The initial room we got was not what we expected and was nowhere pictured on Expedia or their website. You can tell it was an older room and hadn’t been updated to the standards of their other rooms. We asked to be moved to the room we actually paid for and they moved us no problem. On our last night we did find a cockroach in our bathroom and there was a blood stain on our sheet. Note before booking that the AC isn’t that strong so the only cool area of the room will be the bed. Everywhere else is pretty hot. Other than that the 2nd room we got was super nice and I loved the private outdoor mini pool.

Tuve una experiencia mixta durante mi estadía en el Hotel Maya: Lo positivo: • La ubicación es excelente, a un paso de numerosos restaurantes y tiendas del centro. • El personal es muy atento y siempre dispuesto a ayudar con una sonrisa. • El área de la piscina es amplia, limpia y muy agradable para relajarse. Lo negativo: • Al llegar me ofrecieron un servicio de transporte tres veces más caro que el que pude conseguir por mi cuenta. • Existen cargos ocultos (“fees”) que sólo se revelan y cobran al hacer el check-in. • La habitación es muy sencilla: la cama, aunque grande y cómoda, está flanqueada por poca iluminación y el aire acondicionado no enfría lo suficiente. • Me pareció inusual que el café en la habitación no estuviera incluido: cada cápsula de Nespresso costaba casi 100 MXN, cuando en la mayoría de hoteles este servicio es gratuito.

A/c would not cool down. Alot of algae can't swim in beach. The owner needs to pay more attention to how much algae is accumulated. We had to go elsewhere to enjoy the beach and spend more money out of pocket.

We booked a room with the jungle view and a private pool and upon checking in we were immediately upgraded to an ocean front room, private swimming pool right outside our front door with lounge chairs and the beach was literally 10 feet away from the fence on the front of our own private yard. It was an amazing experience, the hotel was fantastic, I don’t have one negative thing to say about the entire stay, the staff and everything were amazing. 5 out of 5 stars

A nice stay

A nice beachside resort. units included outdoor space and a hammock. No efforts were taken to clear the huge volume of sargassum which detracted from the beach. Taco restaurant was good. Included breakfast was minimalist, but menu items were generous and well made. Front desk staff was helpful. The crowd was generally younger (20-30s) with a few families. A pleasant getaway!

I love this place. Your own cottage on the beach with a price little pool. The staff try their hardest. The poop is beautiful as is the beach club. The beach 🏖️ is spectacular. The best thing about the area is the peace and not bust. Unfortunately they have opened up the resort to a taco stand and little bar with a band stand. This is a huge mistake. The public now access the beach via the route to the taco stand. The number of people on the beach is too much due to the public access. Also the bandstand is right next to the best accommodate and creats way to much noise. I hope they close the taco stand and add a nice Mexican restaurant. This would close off the public access and the resort would go back to being peaceful For Canadians this is an incredible resort. Much better than Florida. Having your own little house right on the beach is a dream. The sawgrass is not as big of an issue as reported. If you need customer service by phone prior to arrival good luck The posted numbers do not work or go to the booking agent. Love this place and will return.

Property is good, ocean view room is amazing but stuff at the beach club is inattentive, do not speak English, only feel people by the pool and restaurant and still you have to get up and ask for the check. They do not understand English. I asked for a simple glass and ice and they did not understand. Receptionists the only great one was Fernando, friendly and attentive, with great customer service.

This hotel is rustic but charming. Tulum is very expensive to stay and to dine. But the Maya hotel offers some of the most affordable dining options within the property. It’s not very close to the more busy area of Tulum and that’s what I wanted. However, taxis are a rip off, so if you don’t have your own transportation it is a bit far and the roads and side walks of awful. But the hotel is very cool.
