I had booked an economy double room on Expedia over a week ago. Realistically I should have waited until nearer my stay as rooms were £30-£40 cheaper. My bedroom was spacious albeit dated in decor. The bathroom was very modern and clean. The view from my window was obscured by the scaffolding work outside. The hotel walls are very thin and I was woken by a steady banging of doors on my corridor. Reception staff were not very friendly although the breakfast staff were. The hotel is very near St. Mark’s Square, but I would think twice about staying here again. It was very expensive for one night’s stay.

I have no idea how this hotel has such a high rating on Expedia. We had two rooms, one room was fine but the other had BED BUGS and baby roaches. The bathroom also stank like a sewer in this room. Are you kidding me? For the amount of money we paid, this was terrible. We had to wash our laundry and take all the precautions to make sure that we didn’t bring any bedbugs back with us. This building is also very old. The rooms have been renovated, buts it’s clear that the hallways are as old as Venice itself. I strongly advise anyone who’s going to this hotel to pick another hotel. This one is not worth the stress and anxiety we had to go through on our trip to Venice.

Hidden treasure

The hotel was clean and helpful. They gave us a tour at no additional charge and even kept our luggage safe for us after we had checked out. The only issue I had was the hairdryer didn't work. Other than that, I would say it was an excellent stay!

This property was not what we expected but really grew to enjoy it. We’d had a few travel issues and had finally figured things out! The hotel is from the 1800’s and since the 1950’s it was bought and run by a family. Front desk staff was awesome, shout out to Alberto for being the jack of all trades! The rooms are enough room for two people, we didn’t realize there are super themes, ie mirrors on the ceilings! Not for the conservative or if you’re just friends. The breakfast buffet was good, they make you eggs and bacon when requested. The bar in hotel was good drinks and snack they bring. Housekeeping was great. EXCELLENT LOCATION to restaurants, bars, shops, other hotels to bop around at their piano bars. The downside is the bathroom is old, didn’t have good lighting and bad water pressure. They said they are some general renovations so I’m not sure it includes the bathrooms. This was over great. Oh, there is no room service. For late night food, the cafe/restaurant next door is open until 11am! All is great except the bathroom. Great service, breakfast, location, bar, and super easy to get to and from eurorail! Very short walking distance overall.

Nightmare returning home!

We chose this hotel as we stayed here in 2023 and had a decent experience. We enjoyed the majority of our stay this year, 2024 as well but we unfortunately will not book with this hotel again. The day before leaving we scheduled a private water taxi through the hotel as we needed to be at the airport by 4:00am. The front desk confirmed with us twice that the taxi was booked for 3:30am the next day. We went to the lobby at 3:15am and asked the front desk if our taxi would be on time. He spent 20min “looking through the schedule” then told us the hotel forgot to book the taxi. As public transportation was not running at this time it became a huge problem. The gentleman at the front desk was not able to provide us with contact information or resources for public transportation. We had to repeatedly beg for his help as a fiddled around with odd tasks seemingly attempting to ignore the issue. Finally after waiting an hour he contacted a taxi for us. However, it was much too late to make our flight. We then lost all of our connecting flights as well which caused us to pay an additional $1,800 to book new flights which were for a much later time. We asked for the hotel manager to contact us, nearly a week later now we still have not heard from the hotel manager. As I stated, we are extremely disappointed as up until this incident we enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

It’s been a few months since we returned from beautiful, unforgettable Italy! 🇮🇹 My heart is aching to go back. In the spirit of reminiscing, I wanted to be sure to leave a review for the enchanting A’la hotel we stayed at. I took my 4 children and their significant others on the trip of a lifetime, to Venice, Rome, Tuscany Umbria, and lastly Cortona. We loved every minute of our time in Venice, and I can attribute much of our happy vacationing to the staff at A’la Hotel Venezia! They really were remarkable people. In the few short days we were in Venice, we were made to feel like family, or honored guests. The hotel is rustic and was surely a jewel when it was new. Don’t expect all the conveniences of American hotels. It does lack a few of the conveniences Americans are accustomed to, such as a refrigerator in the room. The staff at A’la Hotels Venezia were warm and welcoming. Our experience in Venice ands with this. Hotel is one example of how beautiful Italy is and always has been! The hotel is based in an excellent location for exploring the city and is only 50 yards from the water taxi pick up / drop off. The property is clean and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The bar is an added bonus to wind down after a busy day. We would definitely return.
