Very welcoming and helpful staff. Comfortable and clean room, although several stairs to negotiate (up to 3 floor and no lift.) We requested a room with least no. of stairs and they were very accommodating. Great breakfast (extra cost). Within 5 minutes walk of several excellent restaurants and large shopping mall.

Beautiful Georgian building that has received LIMITED updates, too limited for what they charge. I was put in a top floor room, 4 flights of steep stairs and no elevator. The room sat directly under the roof and with the window closed (and the cleaning staff always closed it) and no AC the room would be very hot and stuffy by the end of the day and would not fully cool down until the wee hours of the morning; and this was in September so one can imagine the heat in summer. Also, with the windows open sounds of the traffic and street cars down below Kept me awake. The hot water was tepid, with very low water pressure, not much more than a trickle, and the bed killed my back. Not what one would expect at this price point.

A fine old Edinburgh Town House with spectacular views over the Firth of Forth to Fine. One note of caution, though: no. 36 has no lifts. The exercise did me good, but for some guests this may be an issue. O/w a terrific hotel.

Loved the hotel. The staff were wonderful and helpful (helped carry our luggage up to the top floor.) Breakfast was excellent. The lounge area was very nice. Would have given a 5 overall except for not having a lift. We avoided our room during the day to avoid going up all the stairs. Recommend the Superior Double as the Standard comes in different sizes and floor levels. Thanks for a great stay!

The room was down several stairs. No lift. Situated basically in the basement.. No window just a sky light. Making the already tiny tiny room, Stuffy.. A fan was provided. It offered some comfort. The staff was probably the best part. I feel as we were charged too much for a Small room with a double bed. Which is what I ordered but upon seeing it in person it seemed overpriced.
