Beware of drunken Glaswegians, I lost a night's sleep, because of 4 the Hotel wouldn't throw out.
Finally at 2 am, I was asked to move rooms, which I did, so those bampots could have a hotel floor to themselves.
Still waiting for an apology and some kind of compensation.
The This Hotel is very good value for money, yes it is a bit dated but i stayed for 5 nights and the staff can't do enough for you view of the park is beautiful but the road can be a bit noisy. I asked to swap rooms after the first night as the traffic kept me awake, they moved me within two hours. The breakfast was good with a good chioce and plenty of it. I didn't have any evenung meals so i can't comment. I would recomend this hotel to my friends and family
Ok so it's not the hilton but for the price I expected and hovel. But it turned out to be great. I will use this hotel all the time now. It's location is handy for me to see friends but not including that I still found the hotel excellent. The room was far far bigger than I expected. I had a third floor room overlooking the park, it was nice and big, had a big TV with freeview, was nice and warm, clean and had a nice comfy double bed. I think I have paid more for B&Bs so I really couldn't have been happier. Will definately use again!
We got a good deal on this Hotel, it was quite so we were put in a very good room, four poster bed, spacous - some minor damage (crack in bath panel and one cracked tile) but room was clean and comfortable. Hotle obviously needs money spent on it but then you wont get it for the current rates. Breakfast was as much as you can eat , basic fry and cereals/fruit juice. Staff were polite but I guess turnover is high and could do with some basic training (i.e. hot water for tea - it has to be hot not waRM)
Location is v easy to get to centre - train station literally round the corner. Anyone needing low price accomodation whilst getting a clean comfortable bed and a good feed in the morning - then this may suit your needs.
Ewington City Hotel - 5 NÀchte bei gutem Preis-LeistungsverhÀltnis
Hatten ein Doppelzimmer.
Positiv:
Great location opposite Queen's Park and within three minutes of a railway station and thence, via the frequent service, into Glasgow Central in under 10.Room was good and comfortable.Bathroom could have benefitted from better lighting, and a more efficient mixer system for the shower over the bath.Breakfast ample but fried food a bit limp. However , served by cheerful staff. All staff helpful. More TV channels would have been welcome.
Great location for a long weekend in Glasgow which is an attractive city with a noticably helpful population. Difficult to find current day's International Herald Tribune in Glasgow but this is not the hotel's fault ! I'll be back.
The hotel was a very nice, small hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Very quaint, across the street from a very nice park. Located a little outside the main city area, but easily accessible by cheap train.
close to railway station(queens park). queens park is opposite hotel so iff you feel like awalk in the park,it is ideal.two stops on the train and you are in the centre of glasgow. close to all the shops and bars.

We went to see U2 at Hampden and stayed at the Ewington Hotel as it's only about 15 minutes walk from the stadium. As said in previous reviews the hotel can do with being refurbished. Our room and bathroom were very clean and the mattress was really comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was self service with plenty of choice. All in all - a really good value for money hotel.
My first visit to Glasgow and the hotel was so comfortable. The 4 poster bed and spacious bedroom was a surprise considering the value of this hotel!!! Easy access to city center on bus 44/44a taking about 10 mins and 1.30pounds
Very good value. Residential area across from Queens Park, southside of Glasgow. Hard mattresses. Lift/elevator very small; was not working properly one of 8 days of stay. (use the stairs) Excellent breakfast in very comfortable dining room. Friendly, helpful staff.
Basic but clean hotel, handy for Hampden! In administration!!
Clean spacious room and bathroom, though basin was tiny and we couldn't fit the kettle under the tap to fill it! Service ok, though arrived back late and no-one on front desk. Waited ages then just took our key...someone else could have helped themselves to lots of keys etc.... Bar downstairs manned by night porter!! Breakfast fine, plenty variety and quantity. 15 minutes walk from Hampden Park, close to Queens park railway station too. Would stay again...reasonably good value for money.
Booked a twin room for a one night stay while we were up seeing Take That. Arrived at the hotel to find they didnt have any twin rooms left so we got seperate rooms.
My friend got a double room on the 1st floor , that was ok but didnt have any hot water and I got a single room on the 3rd floor that was quite dark and to make it worse the roller blind wouldn't go up so had to try and fold it up so it would sit on the sash window.
Breakfast was ur usual buffet of cereals, fruit & cooked breakfast. Everything was ok apart from it taken quite a while for the girls to come and ask if we wanted tea/coffee & toast, which we would have minded if they were busy but it was quite quiet then.
All in all we would prob stay here again if we came up for a concert as it was ok for the price and its in walking distance to Hampden.
It was clean, if somewhat faded, but the staff were friendly.Breakfast was perfectly adequate but best to get there early(ish) ! It was a very reasonable price and I would use it again. About a 20 min walk/stroll to Hampden if any one needs to know for concerts or football.
When I originally booked the place, I thought it was much closer to Glasgow Central. Turns out you need to change trains in order to get there, but it's very close to the Queens Park station. I was very happy with the cleanliness and the breakfast they provided. They have free wifi in all the rooms as well. The room was small (I'm amazed they fit two twin size beds and a desk in there) and you can tell that the building is old. The key is an actual key instead of a keycard. Otherwise it's very conveniently located and clean with good amenities.
This very old hotel is in need of some updating. It is not close to the city centre. Although the hotel is located in a nice part of the South Side, you have to travel through 'depressed' areas to get there. The room had visible water damage and a hole existed above the desk where someone had put their fist through it. The front desk said they were aware the previous guests had caused the damage. OK for the value; but better to speand a few extra pounds and be able to walk home from the pubs.
We stayed at the Ewington City Hotel for two nights 15th and 16th May 2009 and thought the hotel was maybe in need of a little decoration (but it had a very pleasant old fashioned feel to it) but this was overshadowed by the very pleasant and helpful staff. The breakfast was very good and served in a very pleasant clean restaurant area.Fantastic value for money and opposite to Queens Park which is wellworth a stroll in.Would definately go back to but it isn't in the middle of Glasgow and you would need transport.
