Had a great stay at Casa de la Playa with our family...from my mom in her 70s to my kids age 17-24 to my sister's kids age 1-4...it was a perfect spot! (Lots of steps tho.)
This was our first trip to Isla so we had no idea what we were looking for & feel lucky we ended up here! Now we know that the wide, white sand beach with roped off swimming area, shallow water & gentle waves right in the backyard is RARE on the island! The amazing staff had umbrellas, beach chairs, beach toys, towels, a cooler & kayaks out for us everyday...clean & hassle free! Water was perfect for littles to swim...altho there is seaweed on the bottom after the first 15 ft (they have floats!)...and tons of iguanas to watch too! Enjoyed the outdoor dining table, hammocks and wide back porch as well.
The house is big, rooms are spacious, multiple living areas, big kitchen, separate bathroom for each bedroom (no a/c in baths tho). Bedrooms stay pretty cool with a/c units & doors kept closed but a/c units in rest of the house struggle to keep up in summer & rooms stay pretty warm. We tried opening all the doors in the living areas but it was just too hot & no breeze while we were there...
We rented golf carts to get around...a must as there is not much within walking distance but everything is pretty close via golf cart...restaurants, groceries & downtown!
Highly recommend Cati, the chef, to cook for you...such good Mexican food & so lovely...we had 2 dinners & 3 breakfasts and wish we'd planned more!
