This is the first installment in our âAlchemyâ series: where history is not erased, but transformed.
This private townhouse blends preserved architectural details with bold modern design. Original timber beams, handwritten marks from 80 years ago, and a repurposed milk box key station hint at its past, while a suspended hammock, a bath with a garden view, and layered lighting reframe it for the present.
âAlchemyâ is for travelers who seek more than comfort: a sense of story and inspiration.
ââ THE SPACE ââ
Inside, youâll find a harmony of textures: soft tatami flooring, cool steel countertops, and handmade lighting that reflects both tradition and innovation. A hammock hangs in the tatami room, inviting you to enjoy slow, weightless moments. The bathroom opens to a view of a private garden, where natural light and shadow shift quietly throughout the day.
For quiet mornings or restful evenings, we offer a pour-over coffee set and botanical bath saltsâsimple rituals to help you slow down and savor your stay.
ââ Area ââ
The area is well connected: Tamade Station (Yotsubashi Line) is just 150 m away.
From there:
âą Namba: 4 stops, 9 minutes
âą Shinsaibashi: 5 stops, 11 minutes
âą Umeda / Osaka Station (Shinkansen): 8 stops, 17 minutes
Tamade is an old-school neighborhood where local shops, family-run eateries, and retro storefronts line the streets. Itâs not a tourist areaâbut thatâs exactly what makes it so appealing. Guests can experience Osaka at a slower pace, where morning markets still open early, and neighbors greet each other in the local dialect.
Late-night convenience stores, supermarkets, and affordable local food are just around the corner.
ââ Other Things to Note ââ
Bedding:
The townhouse can comfortably accommodate 4â6 guests (including children). Bedding will be provided based on the number of guests.
Smoking:
The property is non-smoking. As this is a wooden building, any form of open flameâincluding e-cigarettesâis strictly prohibited. Smoking at the entrance or on nearby streets is also prohibited, as it violates Osaka City law.
Smoking may result in a charge equivalent to one nightâs stay as compensation for the next guest.
Care Instructions for Interior Items:
This townhouse is furnished with custom-made pieces by local artisans. Many of these items are expensive and take a long time to replace. We kindly ask you to take great care of the interior during your stay, especially if you are traveling with children.
In the event of any damage, we will charge you for the cost of repairs or replacement.
Consideration for Neighbors:
This property is located on a quiet, residential Japanese street. After 10:00 p.m., we kindly ask you to avoid disturbing the neighborsâfor example, by using the washing machine late at night, running, or speaking loudly. We sincerely appreciate your understanding.
Limited Soundproofing:
As this is a renovated traditional house, sound insulation is limited. Thank you for your understanding. If youâd like, we can provide disposable earplugsâjust let us know in advance.
Watch Your Head:
Due to the original structure of this townhouse, some beams above the staircase are very low. Weâve posted clear signs, but please watch your head and be careful when going up and down the stairs.
Itâs Imperfect:
This is an 80-year-old townhouse. Although weâve completely renovated it, it doesnât have the flawless finish of a hotel. But itâs precisely these small imperfections that allow the passage of time to lingerâgiving the space its unique and quiet charm.
