HOT TUB, Parking, A/C - Near SeaWorld, Beaches, MCRD, Barnes Tennis, PLNU!
Uniquely inspired, Le Chateau Jolie is as romantic as it is charming. Packed with amenities, it would be a serious challenge to get bored.
This 1 bedroom 1 bathroom vacation home is only a few minutes from several of San Diego's best beaches. It is ideally located such that getting to all of San Diego's main attractions, museums, and cultural centers typically takes under 15 minutes. We have a 37-acre wildlife wetland preserve just across the street and we have a wonderful view of SeaWorld's fireworks displays looking out all of our North-facing windows. The San Diego International Airport is 3.5 miles away and Mexico is only 22 miles away.
WHATâS SPECIAL ABOUT THIS PLACE? âIt just feels so warm and inviting, can't I just live here?" and "You really have thought of EVERYTHING!" Those are the types of comments I most often hear. The entire apartment is adorned with beautiful, vaulted wood ceilings, which make it feel much more spacious than you would imagine.
The patio area is fantastic! Amenities include: 6-Person hot tub with adjacent 2-person bar seating (for those that want to chat but not get wet), BBQ grill (what says vacation more than the smell of grilling up dinner?), fire pit & seating area (s'mores anyone?), 6-chair set for patio dining, shed FULL of beach & park equipment, outdoor shower, and even a surfboard & easy-on/off roof mounts!
The location is excellent. Not only are we central coastal, and just 1.4 miles from the beach, but our kitchen and bedroom windows display SeaWorld's FIREWORKS displays. And if that weren't special enough, we are just across the street from Famosa Slough, a 37-acre wetland area that is vital to supporting threatened and endangered species. San Diego is one of the most biologically rich counties in the US. This wetland attracts all kinds of migrating birds and has a lovely walking path along its shoreline.
WHAT IS THE BUILDING STRUCTURE LIKE? This 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment is the front half of the second floor of a two-story triplex. There is one flight of stairs, which is near the reserved parking spot. The stairs are enclosed, well lit, and have a handrail. The apartment shares only one wall with neighbors. There is a long-term tenant next door and a vacation rental below you.
WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE? First off, you will be pleased if cleanliness is important to you. It is very important to us too.
The spacious bedroom has wood vaulted ceilings, a ceiling fan, ROKU TV, DVD player, bedside reading light, a well-lit reading chair, and a huge walk-in closet. Triple pane windows block nearly all sounds from outside, and that coupled with a comfy Queen-size bed, nice linens, and black-out window dressings encourages a wonderful nightâs sleep and lazy vacation mornings.
The living room has a wonderfully comfortable sofa that folds flat into a full-size bed. There is also a ROKU TV, DVD player, large DVD library, dozens of books, and a huge game cabinet full of board games, toys, puzzles, and arts and crafts. Take a good look at the furniture, and yes, several pieces are constructed from real cigar boxes (and no, we donât smoke cigars)! Truly fun and unique.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook as you do at home. There is a gas stove, oven, full sized fridge and freezer, dishwasher, built-in microwave, taster, toaster oven, and a dual coffee machine that brews both k-cups (complimentary) as well as carafes. In the kitchen you will find an array of spices, resealable baggies, saran & foil, food storage containers, cleaning supplies, and a 30-cup PUR water filter. A wave of your hand lights up the countertops.
The bathroom has a shower/tub combo with excellent water pressure, plenty of fresh white linens, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, shaving mirror, and an entire floor to ceiling cabinet packed with helpful forgot-one items. You will also find oversized quick-dry Turkish cotton beach towels in your linen cabinet,
In the dining area there is a fold-down desk and chair, which makes for a nice workspace if you have a few last-minute work items you weren't able to get done prior to heading out of town.
Shared spaces include a laundry room and a patio. If you come to town for a private event, such as a graduation or a wedding, you may want to inquire about the other vacation rental in the building, which is three bedrooms and sleeps up to ten.
If you would like exclusive use of the patio for a particular time block, you may request it. There are no additional fees involved in doing so.
AIR CONDITIONING? Do not assume just because you are near the beach, you do not need A/C! Trust me, you do, and we have it.
DO I GET OFF-STREET PARKING? This apartment comes with one off-street parking space. Inquire further if you need a second parking space, as one may be available for reservation.
EV charging available, complimentary.
CAN I DO LAUNDRY? A coin-op laundry room is just outside your front door. Coins are made available for purchase.
LOOKING FOR UNIQUE OPPORTUNITIES ON A BUDGET Over the years I have been compiling an extensive "Totally Cool & Mostly FREE Things to See & Do" list. This list has grown to about 40 pages now and is very reader friendly. Guests often mention they really got a lot of great ideas from it. FAMILIES TRAVELING WITH BABIES The walk-in closet is very large. Families traveling with little ones will at once appreciate that the complimentary Pack 'N Play takes up only 1/3 of the closet and the closet effectively can be used as a quiet nursery. Extra pillows and blankets and dedicated boogie boards are also stored here. Rubber eating utensils/plates, various sippy cups, baby wellness, books, toys and a highchair are provided. Hard-to-pack baby items are available upon request and include pack & play w/bassinet & changing table, portable shaded play yard, beach mesh tent, and more. Entertainment includes toys, picture books, and an animated DVD library.
DEVIL'S IN THE DETAILS â AM I GOING TO END UP FEELING LIKE A VIP OR A GROUPON HOLDER...? Great forethought has been put into the way the property is appointed, such that guests are often inclined to feel cared for and attended to, which is an experience that is difficult to articulate because it is subtle but potent. Itâs personal and you can feel the love that surrounds you from the hand-made cigar box furniture that Kim created with her oldest daughter to the wall murals which were hand painted by her youngest daughter. The devil is in the details as they say, which is shown by so many of the reviews mentioning "attention to detail"... It is no one thing but it is everything.
WHAT ARE SOME OTHER THINGS I MIGHT NEED TO KNOW? âą Internet connection speed is limited by the capabilities of that particular deviceâs configuration as well as local bandwidth congestion. âą San Diegoâs International Airport is located right beside several communities including ours. We have installed triple-pane windows throughout for a very peaceful experience. However, newcomers will notice the noise from the overhead planes when out on the patio. If you think this will bother you or if you have experience as a very light sleeper, then please be willing to try out the supplied ear plugs/white noise/nature machines, which should be more than adequate to have you sleeping very comfortably and soundly. However, PLEASE REFRAIN from booking if you think airplane noise will take away from you having a positive experience. We'd MUCH rather you book somewhere you are more certain to have a 5-star experience. âą Please DO NOT book a reservation if you are less than FULLY committed to respecting, and ensuring all House Rules as follows: No unregistered guests. No pets. No parties/loud gatherings/adversely intoxicated social get-togethers on or about the property without prior authorization from the host. Be fully committed to being an EXCELLENT neighbor (friendly/quiet/respectful). No parking in anyone elseâs parking space. If you break or stain it, admit it ASAP. WE RELY ON EXTERIOR CAMERAS to monitor noise/unregistered guests/parking issues/unauthorized pets. We have invested in your experience, please help us... help you... enjoy it!
Everything was just as described. We used the hot tub 4 nights of our stay and it was perfect after a long day of sightseeing/walking and never a time with other guests wanting to use at the same time. The apartment had everything you could think of, and itâs only 15-20mins from just about every San Diego thing to do. It was a wonderful stay and we will surely be back!
Communication with the host was excellent and access was clear and straightforward. There is a creative charm to âLe chateauâ. This place was well situated for our stay and visit.
The hot tub was phenomenal and the whole patio vibe was amazing. All the extra possible things available for use definitely makes me want to plan better for the next trip so we can better utilize them. Comfy bed and a well stocked kitchen. We would definitely stay again the next time we're in town! Highly recommend! Few things, Wish there was a little better lighting on the patio and the walk between the buildings but it was very minor inconvenience. The outdoor shower was too confusing for us to figure out but it would be great if that actually worked. The water pressure in the shower is intense which is cool because sometimes you want strong pressure but a shower head that gave you options would be appreciated. The heater/ac unit is regulated like it is hotel room but actually even more frustrating cause you press what you think are all the right bottons and it goes through all the motions but then you wake up in the middle of night freezing because it's not working. I finally changed what time the clock read on the remote and that allowed it to work, don't know why. Waking up freezing is like the last thing I wanted to deal with on a vacation that was meant to escape the real cold of the Midwest. We were lucky because there was no one staying in the lower unit while we were there so,we had the patio to ourselves but I didn't even know that having other's with access to the hot tub was a possibility, I just assumed it was private so fyi.
Kim was an amazing host. We changed plans last minute and she responded right away. She was very welcoming and helpful. Her rental was exactly as advertised, even better! A quaint quiet little place perfect for my husband and I. Kim has thought of everything and provides clear instructions and expectations. A definite 12/10!
Kim did an excellent job of being responsive to all my questions before renting the apartment as well as throughout our stay. Also her apartment had a very comfortable and eclectic vibe to itâŠwhich we enjoyed . Additionally Kim had many of the kitchen items we needed as well as beach equipment during our stay. Also we enjoyed the back patio with a fire pit and comfortable seating. The location of the apartment was very close to everything we need it to get to.if we have a need to return to the Temecula and Point Loma area we would definitely reach out to Kim in the future. From a happy couple visiting to see their daughters family and grandchildren
As the reviews indicate - Kim is great host, and an even better person. She will take care of you. Don't hesitate to stay at her rentals. The hot tub was great! Thanks again Kim! Be back soon :)
Great little place to stay which Kim has clearly taken a lot of time to make feel like home. Makes sucha difference to have an outside area to relax in at night with the fire pit-we loved it
While the stay started out rough, Kim was quick to solve any problems that we had, and made things right immediately. Communication with Kim was excellent!
Clean, well apointed, safe, quiet, incredible water pressure, local to a variety of fun things to do. Kim is super communicative, responsive and has filled this property with tons of personal touches. This is our second stay here and it will not be our last!
The host was very welcomjng and helpful... there is a lot of attention to detail in this place. Had a great time and if i come back ill try to stay again.
Very well equipped and great location close to multiple San Diego beaches. 15 minutes to the convention center. Very family friendly with available kids plates, silverware, glasses, stroller, toys, and games. I would definitely stay here again.
The apartment was small but very functional. Kim stocked the place with everything we could have needed (our 3 year old was obsessed with the game/toy closet and Scooby Doo movie). 10 minutes away from everything we wanted to do, and we went down to ocean beach every evening.
The host is so focused on making sure every need is met. All sorts of thoughtful details in this property. Host is VERY responsive to guests. Property is a little cramped, but very comfortable.
Absolutely charming 2nd floor apartment with every amenity you can think of and a dozen more things that you'd never expect. Kim thought of EVERYTHING you'd need to make your stay comfortable and complete.Ocean Beach is a charming community with dozens of great shops, restaurants, and Thibault to see and this is a convenient place to stay to see then all. I will absolutely stay here again!
