The Whale Ocean View Pacific Beach

Take in the view of the ocean from your private patio space. This two-bedroom, one bath San Diego vacation rental located on Law St. in Pacific Beach is just a rocks throw away from the beach.  

Located just steps away from Pacific Beach and a few minutes' drive from La Jolla, this cozy Pacific Beach vacation rental sleeps 4 in beds but can accommodate 5. There's something for the whole family, including SeaWorld San Diego just a 12 minute drive away - you could practically bike there! Crystal Pier is just a 5 minute walk on the boardwalk, or continue the walk down to Mission Beach and Belmont Park. There are plenty of restaurants and shops to check out along the way if you choose.

Enjoy watching the sunsets from your private patio after a long day at the beach.  The living room has large windows to really bring in the natural light and make it nice and bright inside. Relax on the leather couch and/or loveseat while watching your show of choice on the 50" TV, or stream a movie on Netflix using your own private wifi network. 

The kitchen has nice granite countertops, gas stove, dishwasher and all the other appliances you need to cook from home. The kitchen also has dishes, pots, pans, utensils etc. If you don't have something you need, just ask us about it. 

Both bedrooms have a queen-size bed so four people can comfortably stay here. Each room has two windows that let in plenty of sunlight during the day, and one has a small flatscreen TV.

The bathroom has a matching granite countertop and tub/shower combo where you can wash off all the sand after a long day of surfing, swimming, or playing. This home also has a garage to park your smaller size rental car (full size SUV's will not fit inside the garage - dimensions are 93 inches wide, 15.5 feet long, 83 inches tall). You will also find boogie boards, sand toys, beach chairs, and wagon to use during your time at the beach.  

There's a grill and extra seating in the front shared patio space.

No smoking is allowed inside any of our properties.

This house (like most in the area) does not have air conditioning.

Important: Before you arrive, you will be asked to complete guest verification through third-party provider Truvi. This is done to ensure we are keeping up-to-date with short-term rental regulations as well as providing both our guests and our properties with extra protection. This was a last minute booking and we could not have been happier with our accommodations. The place was immaculate- a rare find at the beach! The views of the surf from our private deck were just what we hoped for. The host was responsive to our questions and we encountered no problems during our visit.

We found the property to be true to the description. Despite being up the street in a neighborhood, we could see the ocean and it was only a 2 minute walk to the beach. Conveniently, the closest access to the beach is also the access that is equiped with public restrooms and outdoor rinse-off showers. The check-in and check-out were super easy. The garage fit our Camry rental with an inch to spare. Don't bring anything larger. This close to a public beach access, parking on the street can't be relied on.The water was hot and plentiful. The towels were clean and fluffy. A set of over-the-door hooks would have been appreciated in the bathroom.The beds and pillows were very comfortable. It said it slept 5, so with only 2 rooms, I assumed one of the couches was a sleeper couch. It wasn't, but we found a set of bedding (and a couple of sleeping mats). The couch still slept one even without it being a pull-out bed! The kitchen was adequately stocked with dishes and pans and small appliances. It did not have salt/pepper shakers or cooking oil.The weather for our stay was not warm enough to spend the day at the beach, but the beach accessories in the garage looked like fun. There was even a wagon to help carry items/kids to the beach. We appreciated and used the cooler.We didn't spend much time in the property. But when we were there, the wifi and tv worked, we didn't hear the neighbors, and we enjoyed our time there! We would stay here again!

Excellent location! We were able to walk to so many great coffee spots, boardwalk, beach, corner stores, eateries, nice grassy area on Law St.The condo was very quiet, comfortable, had everything we needed; our host was very responsive. It was great we had a garage for rental car. Advise small, very compact car. We would definitely stay there again!

The property manager was great to work with. Had some snags in my reservation (my fault) and she worked it out so my vacation was not ruined. The only issue I had was parking. The garage does NOT fit any car so you have to depend on street parking and with all the beach goers that is hard to find unless it is after dark.

Located in a neighborhood just steps from the beach with great views of the ocean and very walkable to many restaurants and stores. Front "deck" counter is a very relaxing spot to watch the ocean waves and sunsets or drink your morning coffee! Comfy beds and couches. Felt very safe at this location.It needs a little TLC, they are replacing the heater so we used a space heater and gas fireplace which worked just fine. Highly recommend!

Makeover Needed
..

I chose the Whale based on the high ratings it received and ocean view. Unfortunately, the pictures looked much better than the actual unit. The Whale was more than just outdated, it was in great need of basic general maintenance. Window treatments were missing panels and slats, heat did not work. Portable heaters were found in the closets, but the outlet did not work where they were to be plugged in. Hardware was missing from cabinets. The granite countertop in the bathroom had a large crack across it. Rugs could have used a deep cleaning or replacement. Pots and pans were greasy and non stick surfaces all scratched and worn. Also, all the garages did not work initially. I will say, after calling Megan and sending her pictures of all the issues, she did move me to another unit and garage doors were repaired by the second day. The Marlin was in better condition, but could also use new window treatments and hardware replaced. No water view from unit. The positives were the great location, comfortable beds, and Megan’s prompt resolution to the problem. The units really need attention. I truly hope this property is restored to the beautiful place it once was.did
