There's a coffee shop/cafe on site. You can enjoy a drink at the bar/lounge. WiFi is free in public spaces. A library, tour/ticket assistance, and coffee/tea in a common area are also featured at the luxury Jan Luyken Amsterdam. A complete renovation of Jan Luyken Amsterdam was completed in April 2023.
The location is excellent for visiting the Rijkmuseum and VanGogh museum. If your into very high end shopping one block away are Prada,Celine,Hermes and so on. The room was adequate for one person, however, the bathroom is another story. The hairdryer was mounted so high I could not reach it, 5"2" tall. When I enquired at the front desk about this I was given a stool to use to reach it. I'm not sure this is the best solution for a paying guest to be using a step stool to access something that should be readily reachable by anyone. Second the shower was very slippery and dangerous. There were no hand bars and one could easily have fallen in it. These things definitely made my impression of this hotel less than favorable.
Great little hotel. Recommended, particularly for the townhouse concept. Breakfast buffet, evening light snacks and drinks all included.
Cannot fault the location if youâre coming for the Rijksmuseum or Van Gogh, although Amsterdam is a such a small city using the public transport (tram and bus stops less than 2 minutes away) or walking are all easy options.
Advice - Can only comment on the âsmallâ rooms, adequate for a short 3-4 nights stay but you might find you need a larger one if youâre travelling with more luggage or staying for a week.
Iâd be very happy to stay there again.
my bed sloped downhill. Most of the people that worked at the front desk were not very friendly other than the woman that checked me in who was absolutely lovely. The people that worked in the kitchen were really nice as well as housekeeping. When I checked out the woman didnât even thank me for staying there.
The front desk staff and the complimentary drinks were nice. The property itself was run down for the price. In our room, the bed had fresh sheets but the coffee mugs and bathroom were dirty from the previous guest. We checked out the morning of March 31st at the front desk and Iâve received numerous messages to check out since then.
Excellent location a block from Van Gogh, Riksmuseum, and MOCO. Great breakfast, free beverages, happy hour, and all-day food and drinks included in price. Beautiful property.
The property is unique. The commons areas are welcoming and convenient. We stayed here to be close to the art museums, and if you can dodge the bikers and trams for a five-eight minute walk, you will love the experience. The cocktail spread was all we needed for that evening meal, though we did find nearby restaurants that were fun. Breakfast at the hotel was delightful. Most wonderful was the kindness of the lovely women running the hotel. We felt welcomed in Amsterdam thanks to them.
