I stayed at the Van der Valk Hotel and was genuinely impressed. This is a beautiful, modern hotel in a fantastic location—just a short 2-minute walk to the metro and less than 15 minutes into central Amsterdam. It’s the ideal balance of convenience and calm. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. My room was spacious, spotless, and stylishly designed, with all the modern comforts you’d hope for. The on-site spa and gym were excellent additions, perfect for unwinding or keeping up with a fitness routine. Honestly, I can’t see why anyone would leave a negative review. Everything exceeded expectations, and I’ll definitely be staying here again the next time I visit Amsterdam. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend!

My bf and I had an AMAZING stay here! We booked a penthouse suite and it did not disappoint. Great panoramic views of the city, walkable to the Overamstel station, great amenities and great room. Only downside is it is about a 20min train ride to the central area of town so we’ll likely stay closer next time but for a luxury stay, we would highly recommend.

The room was nice, the hotel is a little out of the way but it’s a pretty walk to the nearby metro. The spa was great, and very welcome after a long flight. Note though, the ‘fridge’ in the room is not a fridge! I bought some supplies and put them in there. Only to have my food be warm the next day. I had to throw away my yoghurt and salad. I was told that it was meant to keep temperature, not keep things cold. Apart from that a great stay, friendly staff and a positive experience.

I had higher expectations for this hotel given its high-rise design and facilities. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite match. Despite the hotel having many upper floors with views, I was assigned a room on the 4th floor — which is effectively the first floor above the gym, offices, and other service areas. It lacked the views and quiet I had hoped for. We placed the “Please clean the room” sign before leaving in the morning, but when we returned late in the evening, the room had not been cleaned. I also had to call twice to receive the complimentary daily water — the first request was ignored, and only after the second call (20+ minutes later) was it delivered. The hotel has potential, but attention to basic service and room assignment makes a big difference, especially for guests expecting more.

The door for the toilet is made of transparent glass. I am not kidding you. If you are sitting on the toilet, everyone in the room will be able to see you. It was extremely embarrassing. This has to be the worst design decision ever taken. Who makes a toilet door transparent?! I cannot even believe it.

We loved this property! We booked the Family Suite. It included bunk beds in a separate room with its own TV. The main suite was well appointed, clean and a nice size. One note, all of the family suites are next to the elevator but we weren't disturbed by any noise. The amenities at this hotel were outstanding with 2 restaurants off the lobby and a spa, no fee required. We loved the spa as it has a sauna, steam room, bucket shower, heat swings, outdoor pool, beds for lounging, foot bath, filtered water, ample towels... just awesome. One downside is the location is a 20 minute taxi ride from downtown. There's a metro station very nearby but no shopping or cafes in the area. Altogether, a great stay!

I have stayed at this hotel the last 3 times I was in Amsterdam. It is conveniently located near a metro and can access the city easily. The hotel is very clean and has a restaurant and a bar. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The I enjoyed their spa experience the last 3 times I was there and highly recommend this place for your next trip to Amsterdam.

The hotel was a pleasant discovery. Didnt expect it to be so beautiful and so well themed. A very warm welcome at the reception by the team, we have got our room straight away, which is amazing. You feel welcomed and expected. Property is very clean and well maintained. Room is amazing. Spacious, comfortable, big panoramic windows and view on the river side. Loved tropical theme of the hotel and our room. Thank you to the housekeeping for making it clean for our arrival. I liked, that they have green initiative and no cleaning in daily basis. Only when you really need you can request. Shower gel and soap is amazing, even purchased for myself (at the reception you can buy it). SPA is superb. Amazing tropic sauna, finnish sauna and steam. All also decorated as tropical theme. Swimming pool is small. Gym is fine, you have all you need for your fitness holiday routine. Restaurant is great, but would not reccomend steak, but carpaccio, seafood, oysters are great. Bar is great and even you can order any cocktail of your choice even if its not on the menu. Hotel is 2 min walk to the train station and you can reach in 10 min the center. Very easy, very convenient. Loved our stay and definitely will be back.

Romantic weekend for two and it was exactly that. We spent the day exploring Amsterdam and then the evening in the hotel spa. Breakfast had a wide selection. I opted for the freshly cooked omelette plus more. Can’t fault the Van Der Valk Amstel. Metro station literally 5min walk. Johnny Rivers cafe opposite with the best vibes and good lunch option if not eating in hotel
