We liked having an apartment in the center of town. We had all the kitchenware and towels we needed. It was a bit complicated to figure out the hot water for the shower. I suggest to provide a manual for the appliances. Water pressure was also low in the shower.

The flat was lovely, but there were three major issues. The en-suite bathroom: smells of damp and raw sewage every time the water is turned on elsewhere in the flat (i.e. the kitchen or other bathroom), and there is damp damage around the base of the shower, and that power shower has low pressure. The double room: double bed mattress is probably in need of replacing as it dips where it seems a lot of people have slept on already. The entrances: There is a LOT of pigeon feces leading into the apartment building and the apartment itself. I am aware this might not the fault of Old Town Apartments and rather the fault of the building owner, but the really need to lobby them to spray wash that daily so it doesn’t build it. There were no pigeons in sight so it was clearly something that has build up over weeks/months. This apartment is really lovely and if not for these issues with comfort and cleanliness I would have given it 5 stars, but there were issues that were impossible to ignore. Also, the place asked for a deposit over email, which is of course, was unsecured and even suspicious. There must be a better and more secure way to take deposits in 2019. I would even rather pay more up front to be issued a refund at the end of the stay as you know it will be more secure than provided card details over an email that could be easily hacked on either end with no guarantee your card numbers will be destroyed securely. If these changes were made it would be an amazing stay!
Directions to the location were a bit difficult to understand simply because the geography of the location is unique. We were looking for roads not realizing the "alleys" were roads.
Rooms were clean and well kept.
The ambience, charm and location were all present with this property!

The flat is well-equipped, and has a beautiful scenery from the windows. The location is quite nice, extremely close to the Royal Mile and the cathedral.
Location is just perfect, in the center of all the main city points of interest.

We visit Edinburgh every few years and prices keep rising at hotels near The Royal Mile. Old town Apartments offer a great option. Our place was located on Old FishMarket close and we we delighted to see how easy it was to be on the Royal Mile with just a 1 minute walk. We enjoyed having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and the kitchen is very well equipped for light cooking.
This place has a washing machine, although we could not locate a dryer rack.
This is the best value in Edinburgh.
The apartment was ideal for us. Located right on the Royal Mile. The only drawback was the entryway to the apartment was through a dark and dirty alleyway (Close). We thoroughly enjoyed our Edinburgh stay and the apartment was a great part of that enjoyment. Definitely would recommend this apartment to others.
Great apartment next to the Royal Mile. Stayed for a couple of nights with 2 adults and 2 kids. Plenty of space in our unit with a full kitchen and 2 baths. TV was wonky, but that certainly is not what we were there for.

Be careful, take some pictures before departure
Stay was not bad overall, but there are a few things you need to be aware:
Instructions are not good, difficult to find the place.
Water heater needs to be turn on, stove as well and there is, once again, no any notes or instructions how to do that, nothing. First morning we ended up without breakfast and they sent someone later to turn the stove on, which was not very pleasant.
Noisy from outside and every time you turn water on it makes a lot of noise, especially if you use hot water.
Last, and the worst: we got charged almost $ 300.00 for damaged mirror which we didn't damage, upon our departure everything was in the same condition as received, nothing was broken or damaged and I HIGHLY recommend to take some pictures before you leave with date and time as a prove so you don't get charged for something you didn't do like we got charged.
