This lovely spot merits ten stars, if that were possible. Location, beauty, history, breakfast buffet, staff; the superlatives for everything about the Moana apply to every year of my visits. Unforgettable hotel.

Staff was 11/10, amazing staff, beautiful hotel, wonderful location but the noise at night was terrible. We had a partial ocean view room & we could hear the bar down the street every single night until 2am. It was unbearable & while the staff was very nice, the manager did not accommodate or help change anything, even after speaking to staff about it multiple times. They told me if we wanted to change rooms, we have to pay a higher price for another room in a different location. That part was a major downfall, but otherwise other than the noise, everything was great!

We were so excited to experience the Moana. From walking past it several years ago, it appeared elegant and timeless - looks can be deceiving. We stayed in the historic section. The rooms were small and dark. Cheap small towels. The food choices were terrible. The pool was an after thought. The color palette for the hallways and lobby was dismal. Our room smelled like a creepy old historic church. The staff were friendly. Watersbf location nice. Definitely not feeling the love of details at this resort. Skip it. Not worth it.

From the very first time we pulled in the valet was right there waiting for us. They took care of our luggage. Check-in was very simple. We stayed in the older part of the hotel, which was small, but very cozy and very clean. The staff works tirelessly to keep the place in spotless condition when you walk down to the lobby you’re met with the beautiful Hawaiian breeze on the other side of the street and the ocean the restaurant is delicious. The bar food is absolutely out of this world. Everything about this place was magnificent and I would definitely recommend it for anybody. It’s very close to shopping as well so many things to do and see at this hotel alone.

The location is great, right on the beach, the hotel in general is very nice, rooms were nice, live music was great, food was average+ (decent, nothing special). A few notes; 1: Be careful about booking a 'partial' ocean view room - we asked to be moved because the first room was back towards the street and you couldn't see any ocean without putting yourself in the very corner of the lanai, where you could see a sliver of the water. Our second room was great, more towards the beach. 2: Unless you are in a high tier with Westin, basic beach item are not free (they wanted $25 a day for a beach chair that costs $50 at most retailers). We would stay there again for sure.

Best hotel on Oahu. Love the hotels history and hope that Marriott looks out for preserving this wonderful magical place and not just about the bottom line. I felt that it was a bit overrun and that it was hard for the staff to keep up - especially the courtyard area out back. The staff was very friendly and did all they could to make our stay memorable.

The hotel is historic and beautifully kept up. The room was comfortable. We were in the front of the hotel in the original H section and it was loud @ night with the street noise, bring ear plugs. The food was good. The breakfast buffet was yummy. The beach in back of the hotel was great. The pool was nice.

Very noisy and crowded. No reservations available for any meal even 2 days ahead. One building under renovation and our friends were moved to a street room. Very loud traffic and pedestrians. They required to move and were charged a lot for the upgrade even though it was not their fault. Disappointed.

Beautiful hotel, right on the beach, room was very clean and well maintained. The only warning I would make is that if you get a room on the city side, there were street “acts” every night across the street that drew and engaged a crowd with chants, cheers, etc so it sounded like a rave concert outside our window until quite late every night. Big drawback.

I am from Oahu and have been wanting to stay at the Surfrider since I was a little girl. I return for a visit once yearly, and this time decided to stay at the Surfrider and upgraded to a king with an ocean view in the historic wing. Staff was nice on check in, but we were given, I believe, the worst “ocean view” room in the historic wing. All of the rooms in the historic wing have big windows, but we were given a room with two tiny windows that did not open. You have to walk all the way up to the windows to even see outside, and barely have an ocean view. Since the windows do not open, you have to use a/c, and the unit was leaking, causing a big puddle in the middle of the room. I asked if we could be moved somewhere you could actually see the ocean/open the window for trade winds, and for a room that did not have a big puddle from the a/c leak. I was told that would be an upgrade/cost more, so I was *downgraded* to a partial ocean view *for the same cost.* During my stay, I used valet twice, and the rest of the trip parked in the Sheraton garage (also a Marriott property and labeled to be for Surfrider guests) since it was halfway between our hotel and our friends hotel. On checkout, I was charged for valet every night. When I very nicely asked the incorrect charges be removed, I was challenged by front desk staff (in a very rude tone) and asked to prove that I parked somewhere else. This, even though I never signed a contract for daily valet. Very disappointing.
