Fine but lacks execution

I came to Houston to have surgery after my recent cancer diagnosis. I planned on recovering at Hyatt Place a couple of days afterwards. We expressed to the front office staff during check-in that I would need a wheelchair after having surgery on Wednesday. The staff assured me that they had a wheelchair in the storage closet and all i’d have to do is ask the valet to call and ask someone to bring it down for us. When we arrived to the hotel after surgery, we were told that another guest took the wheelchair to go SHOPPING. I couldn’t walk to our hotel room so soon after surgery because the hotel allowed another guest to take their only wheelchair off the hotel property to go SHOPPING. Even after alerting the front desk of our need for it during check in 2 days before. We then had to wait 30 minutes while the Hyatt Regency brought over one of their wheelchairs to our hotel. Thank God they had one they could bring over. We were disappointed to say the least. We also disliked the breakfast options. Nothing was good and everything was bland. All in all it’s a clean place to lay your head at night but thats all.

There is a mandatory valet fee that is almost $40 a day which is not listed on the Expedia website. We were put on the 12th floor (highest) in a room with AC that barely worked, the maintenance man had to come to our room twice. Instead of switching rooms for us they made us feel guilty for asking the problem to be fixed. The sheets/comforter were very uncomfortable and of poor quality. The hotel also smells strongly of weed in several places. Overall a bad stay and will not be back to this hotel when staying in Houston.
