New spot to add to our rotation, LOVED it

I took my daughter and her friend for a weekend in Monterey, Due to the weather we decided to stay somewhere other than our usual spot on the beach. I found this amazing place which we loved, and it was literally next to the monarch sanctuary. The only thing that wasn’t 5 stars was the bed, I have a bad back and it wasn’t very comfortable for me. We stayed in the 2 bedroom family suite and my daughter loved 1 bed not the other. The staff could not be more helpful, kind and accommodating. I forgot a charger and the front desk gentleman got one from his car for me to borrow for the evening. Another gentleman outside directed me to my room, offered to help with anything I needed and was very pleasant to speak with. The checkout last on duty was extremely kind as well. There were deer roaming in the grass in front of our room that my dog wanted to play with, they allowed my 75 lb dog to stay for free. That’s almost unheard of. Love this place and will recommend to everyone!

Most recent visit.

Love staying at this hotel. Been coming here for years. This time we stayed in the oldest section. The 3 areas are all good, but this being the oldest isn't quite as nice. Don't get me wrong, it is still quite comfortable. The rooms are always clear and well-appointed. Staff is always friendly and attentive to issues. Will definitely be back.

Thirty-five years ago, we lived near the ocean and since moving, return a few times a year for a fix and to reminisce. We've decided on Pacific Grove and have stayed in most all the little dog-friendly inns in the Asilomar area. Last week was our first at Butterfly Grove. It won't be our last, Quiet, clean and spacious king room along with $25 per dog not per night but per stay. There was a fireplace but no thermostat or heat vent evident.The room somehow stayed comfortable - a mystery. When rates are reasonable and our schedule allows, we'll stay at Butterfly Grove.

We stayed here for two nights and it was a nice, quiet area. The toilet seemed to be clogged when we checked in but they fixed it immediately. We were sad to see no butterflies were there which was the reason for our stay but I would still book here again as it's close enough to other attractions without the busy atmosphere.
