I would have given Westgate 5 stars were it not for my friend having FLEA bites all over her legs and ankles each morning. The hotel was quick to act, moving her to a new room and inspecting her room thoroughly. They chalked it up to a previous guest having a dog in the same room. All fine and dandy, but if you have a hotel that allows pets, the health and safety of guests should be top priority. The inspection that was conducted when she informed the hotel should have been completed WELL BEFORE another guest stayed in the same room, not after. To make matters worse, they put her into a room with a murphy bed, not even a real king. The icing on the cake, however, was that when she asked for a refund for the inconvenience and lack of peace of mind for bringing FLEAS home to her children, the hotel simply comped the resort fee. Had they done full compensation for at least a one night stay in addition to the resort fee, I would givd this hotel five stars. I visited with my partner and we were upgraded to a larger suite as it was our anniversary weekend. Very happy otherwise, but I cannot forgive the flea incident. Absolutely unacceptable.

Our experience here was higher than a 3 but not a 4. To start with the pro’s: - Vicinity: Close to the subway and other sights of NYC - Staff: Very friendly staff who offered water every night and coffee upon request - Bed: super comfortable for 2 people after a long day of walking. - Microwave: for people that need one it was appreciated they had one with plates and silverware - Hold’s luggage: it was nice especially coming in so early in the morning Cons: - Musty Smell: we’d come home every night with the smell of must from bathroom. Despite tryjng to air the room out it never left - Towels were a little dirty: taking a further look at the towels had strands of hair -Age: bathroom has no fan and the overall property feels slightly aged
