The hotel rooms are tiny and it didn’t specify in the description how small it was and that the restrooms and showers are shared down the hall with the rest of the floor. No thanks try a different hotel unless necessary. Not worth the money

POD it is!

Pros: convenient location!
POD 51 is just that, Sleeping POD's! Room was very clean and efficient with the space given to seep and shower. No luxury here but it was clean and great location. AC was kind of noisy as was the heavy room doors that seem to shut thru the night as guests came in and out.

great value for all you need

Pros: Price, location, convenience to the subway, neighborhood.
Cons: pillows were a bit flat
Location: Adjacent restaurant/bar was a fun place where people could hang out in groups or sit as a single at the bar and watch TVs, many tap beers on hand.
About my 6th time staying at this Pod hotel as well as the other one in Manhattan. Coffee in the morning sitting out on the patio was a great treat. Staff is attentive. Location great without being in the crowded areas.

Excellent Customer Service! Clean Rooms!

Pros: Cleanliness, customer service
Location: Clinton Hall bar connected to the hotel. Starbucks and Duane Reade within a block walking distance
When we first checked in, the room we were assigned did not have working AC (it had recently been 90 degrees in NY and the room felt like a sauna). Within 5 minutes of calling the front desk, someone was in the room to check it out. They then decided to go ahead and give us an upgraded room for our stay since that room wouldn't cool off for hours. We were able to get a room triple the size and space with a great AC unit. Units were extremely clean and the staff was very friendly the whole time. We couldn't say more good things about this place. And there is a rooftop!

If you liked dorm rooms in college, then you might like this. Otherwise look elsewhere for a better deal. It was overpriced for a cramped room with an uncomfortably hard mattress (no box springs). The door checks through out the floor close with such a bang that the rooms are very noisy. The cable TV provided intermittent reception. Housekeeping did a good job cleaning the room. Hotel odors oscillated between musty and chlorine. While I anticipated the small room, I expected better accomodations for the cost.

Inexpensive European style hostel

Pros: Friendly, courteous, multicultural staff; location, location, location!
Cons: I heard that an "activities fee" may be added to one's bill - not a good idea outside of a resort setting.
Location: Walk to restaurants, Fifth Avenue shopping, theatre district, Times Square, United Nations, Central Park, Grand Central, Rockefeller Center.
White, basic, clean, Ikea-vibe room with shared bath in a European type hostel near the United Nations on a tree-lined street in a walkable residential neighborhood with many restaurant options nearby. One doesn't spend that much time in one's room anyway in NYC, and this is a good l for launch pad for informed travelers.

In town for a funeral service so POD 51 was perfect. Part of vacationing somewhere is enjoying that time in a hotel/resort. POD 51 is not that kind of place. Had a double bed single room with private bath. Tight for one person but you'll survive. Not recommended for two people though. The room is well thought out. Everything was hysterically tiny, but very functional. Small desk for the laptop. Flat TV on wall. The only drawback was no ironing board in the room so keep that in mind if you are on business or in town for bereavement. It's got soap, shampoo and conditioner, towels. The room is cleaned everyday unless you say no. The location of the hotel was also great: 51st St bet 2 & 3 Aves. NYC buses nearby, and the 6 train a block and a half away. Driving in NYC not practical but there is a garage across the street for a cost. Duane Reade (Walgreens) a block and a half away for other practical toiletries. It is really just a place to sleep. A rooftop deck is a nice added touch for guests to chill out. A very generous check out time of 12 noon. They'll hold your bags if you need the service. I think POD 51's price point was a little steep but it is still competitive with all of the other places to stay in the same area. If you have to travel to NYC by yourself, POD 51 is Excellent.
