Top of the World Magical Paradise in Laurel Canyon, Hollywood Hills
A studio with a private bathroom, its own entrance and completely private yard and pool in a magical home atop one of the highest of the Hollywood Hills. Breathtaking city, mountain and ocean views. Linger in the pool or spa. Lush canyon vistas, palms and humming birds. The Sunset Strip minutes below, hawks fly above...
Overall it was great. I ended up staying only 1 night instead of 2 due to a cancelled flight. The drive and subsequent parking would be the only negative for me .... navigating a narrow dirt road with steep cliffs and no turnouts can be a bit stressful.
I can't rate this stay highly enough. A stunning location and an exceptionally welcoming host. Beautiful view over LA and the immediately surrounding canyons. Lots of places to sit comfortably outside and relax, whether looking over the canyons or over the large, heated pool. Perfect stay.
Our stay was wonderful. Shida was a welcoming host and the property was beautiful. "Top of the world" is the perfect description for this hideaway at the top of Laurel Canyon. It's the perfect place to unwind and relax.
Unique and amazing location at the end of a winding drive on the top of a ridgeline of beautiful Laurel Canyon. This cozy room, with a private bath, extends to its own patio and veranda/pool overlooking gorgeous views on both sides looking down the canyon. Coffee on the patio watching the sunrise was fantastic. The hostess was warm and welcoming and everything about our stay was top notch. We look forward to coming back another time.
My wife and I absolutely loved staying in Shidaâs spot!! She was very welcoming, accommodating and communicative. We could have not asked for a better experience, we loved the views and her hospitality. Canât wait to come back!
Very pleasant stay at a beautiful home with gorgeous views. The bed feels like youre sleeping on a cloud. Plenty of outdoor seating refreshing pool. Good vibes.
The views were amazing. It was cold so didnât get in the pool but the hot tub at night was wonderful. The host she was friendly and gave of tips of places where we should go. The room was clean and so was the bathroom and omg the views all around the hills were magnificent!!!!
Beautiful location and lots of outdoor space to sit and relax. Room is a bit small but adequate for a couple. We asked for the spa to be turned on nightly which was wonderful.
Had a great time and relaxing stay. Shida was very welcoming and even said hello when we crossed paths at a local store/coffee shop. Weâd love to return.
Such a beautiful place to stay during our visit. Owner is super friendly, bed was incredibly comfortable, and location is just exquisite. Will definitely stay again on our next visit.
We loved that her home is so close to West Hollywood. The views are amazing, the hot tub was a perfect way to end the day and Shida was a communicative and kind host. Weâd stay here again!
Found room to be small, smaller than standard hotel room. French doors would not open.
Pool would be lovely but poorly maintained. Hot tub not available. Storm proceeded visit but stayed 3 nights. Outdoor furniture old. Road nightmare. Narrow. Dangerous. Closed in areas. Must turn car around in parking spot on edge of cliff. Hesitate to go out in evening secondary to road. Would not rent this property again.
My wife and I loved staying here so much and our host Shida was lovely. There when you need her, not when you donât. An incredibly quiet neighborhood with amazing views from the hill of downtown, Griffith Observatory and so much more. The pool and surrounding lounge areas are amazing and the room had pretty much everything we needed. The bed was also incredibly comfortable. A few things to note: the roads up the hill are windy and narrow and the last road to the house is a single lane. The good news is that cars are good at backing up and accommodating other drivers but it can feel harrowing at times if youâre not used to it, even if youâre using rideshares. Even though the house is just a short distance to WeHo, it is not walkable at all. Youâll either need to venture out by car to get supplies or just order UberEats and Postmates like we did. Itâs not totally clear from the photos, but while this room does have its own entrance, it is part of the ownerâs main house. Having said that, we could hardly even tell they were home â we had a ton of peace and quiet. Loved staying here and definitely look forward to staying again!
We had such an amazing time at Shida's. It's literally a Hollywood Hills oasis with incredible sweeping views ranging from Downtown to Griffith, all of Hollywood and Beverly Hills and all the way to Santa Monica. You have excellent views of the ocean and can even see the port in Long Beach in detail. Even more so impressive in person than the photos already make it. Shida was a lovely host and made checking jn and out a breeze and was so friendly and kind with outstanding recommendations.
We loved our stay and can only recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in an amazing location.
Shida truly has a magical spot on top of Laurel Canyon. Spectacular views, enchanting pool area, and a lovely equipped cozy comfy room perfectly size for two. We really enjoyed our stay and Shida's space. Thank you again we will be back!
The property description is very misleading, but the location is amazing! This is one small room with a bed, a desk, and a chair. We live on Maui so the temp of 47 upon arrival was very cold for us and the two french doors to the room were left wide open. We couldnât turn the heat on because the batteries for the heater remote were dead, but she did have plenty of warm cozy blankets to compensate. I was woken up at 6-6:30 am by Shidas little dog barking fairly close to our inside door, I have several dogs myself so Iâm used to the occasional barking but it wouldâve been nice to sleep in.
Thereâs a little closet built in under her stairs which held a micro fridge (donât bring in anything frozen, we had to throw our ice cream away), and a small microwave. We sat on the floor to eat because it was too cold to eat outside. Although it wouldâve been wonderful to sit outside if it wasnât so cold.
Prior to our arrival we asked to have the pool heater turned on for our second night, thought it would be a nice romantic night in the pool looking over the city, but the water did not warm up. Shida told us that the heater was turned on (and we did hear it on)but it shut off. We told her it was way too cold to swim in and she said her guests from Switzerland like it. Knowing we were coming from Hawaii, Iâm not sure why she wouldnât have told us that the temperature doesnât get much warmer, but not a big deal weâre in the water all the time at home. Iâm just posting it advise others not to waste the extra money to heat it.
There is a small bathroom, you actually enter the room through it. Itâs very dated. You have to turn the water on and let it run for about 5 minutes to get hot water, but it works.
As I said, the ad is misleading. This is nothing more than a room. It would be great for one person who just needs a bed and bath and nothing else. There isnât a washer and dryer for guest use, the owner washed a load of laundry for us. Again, the property is beautiful, but it wasnât what we were looking for, we wouldâve never rented it if the comments and the post were accurate we would not have stayed here.
