We stayed a full week here and loved every minute. The host was incredibly supportive with clear directions and check ins throughout the stay. These four separate units sit on a cliff overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Thereâs a well-designed trail/pea-gravel road down the 135 foot hill to Chimney Corner Beach in Mabou Bay. The layout of the place is great with a beautiful great room and kitchen; great beach chairs in the basement to make it easy to hit the beach, a short ÂŒ mile down the hill. The hot tub is easy to use and the additional heat via wood-burning element made it extra cozy. We sat on the nice deck and watched the sun set over the horizon every night. It should be noted that the remoteness is glorious, but it does require a 20-30 minute drive to most reasonable restaurants (Closer ones were closed or âiffyâ from what we could gather).
If you are considering staying on Cape Breton - stop your search as this is your place! Of the many vacation rentals that we have experienced, this is by far the nicest rental from the property, surrounding, and owners/managers. The owners were on-site to attend to any issue, help start fires for marshmallows, light the wood-fired hot tubs and give directions to hikes, farm shares and fishmongers. Before arriving, we received detailed communications providing useful information regarding locations of grocery stores, restaurants and possible excursions. The "cabin" was perfectly appointed with robes, selection of pillows, laundry, and toiletries. Notable items included basic kitchen staples such as coffee, flour, sugar, salt, pepper, olive oil, vinegar and a full range of spices. Even the cookware was superior (no beat-up teflon pans here!). Then - there is the incredible view of the ocean from virtually any room! A short walk down a well manicured trail leads to a spectacular and secluded sandy beach for swimming. . We were a family of four and stayed in the two bedroom cabin (Cedar). We loved it so much that we requested to extend our stay even though the rental on our next house had already started. Outstanding level of service, communications and attention to detail. A real hidden gem and we shall be returning!
