The house is beautiful with a great location. Be warned in the summer they have a seaweed situation which doesnât allow to enter the water beach front. And it smells awful. But you get used to it and itâs still gorgeous. The host was horrible. The AC broke in a master bedroom on the second night. After contacting the host 3 times, she said it was fix but no one ever came and it was never fixed. It was 90-97° during our stay. 2 people were displaced for 4 nights and the host didnât care. My last message was completely ignored. I would never stay there again. For the money I spent, I expect much better. Two thumbs down.
Villa Mar Azul is in a beautiful location on Soliman Bay. The house itself is nice but be careful if you are looking for a property with bedrooms on the main floor and not a lot of steps. There are multiple steps leading up to the house, within the house and also on the patio. We had my husbands 83 year old mother with us and I've had double knee replacements so one of our criteria was a house with 2 main floor ensuite bedrooms and not a lot of steps. We knew the master was on the 2nd floor but that was ok because our daughter and her husband were going to take that room and our son and his wife were supposed to take the 2nd floor king room in the adjacent (new) building on the opposite side of the palapa. That would have left my husband and I with the King on the main floor of the 2nd building because we were told there was a queen room in the back of the house. The misunderstanding was that it was not in the main house but rather it was in a 3rd building which was down a flight of stairs and separated (behind) the main house. How the property manager could have interpreted that this met our requirement (clearly stated) for "two main floor bedrooms with private bathrooms" I do not understand and so we were surprised and frustrated upon arrival. My MIL took the main floor king in the 2nd building which left me and my husband the upper king in that building. The rooms are very nice but I had to navigate a treacherous flight of tiled stairs to get to our room. I slipped on them one morning but thankfully caught myself at the bottom with only some scrapes and bruises.
The kitchen is decently stocked but the lay out is strange. The d/w doesn't work well so had to prewash everything. The toilet in the main house (main floor but 3 steps down) leaked throughout the stay. The main house has 2 steps to go up or down between the kitchen and the living/dining area. The steps are tile and slippery. You can't see that there are steps in the house in the pictures online so again this was a surprise. The pool area also has a "sunken" part that you have to navigate to walk out to the chairs and beach so you can't really avoid steps anywhere if you're staying at this house.
However, we loved the location and outdoor space was nice. There are 2 kayaks and 2 paddleboards (a couple are missing plugs) and so we enjoyed those and you can snorkel at the reef. The groundskeeper Kevin is great.
