I have to start by saying the smell in the lobby of this resort is to die for. I could literally sit in there all day. My husband and I arrived to this location with transportation through MTS and it was amazing. We arrived to champagne and hand towels. We got there early so our room was not available but we were allowed to eat and walk around the resort. The staff was incredibly nice and respectful. We were always greeted politely. The entertainment was very good for a resort. We loved Karaoke night. It was so much fun! They should offer this more than once a week. Saturdays are a bit more quiet due to some people checking out on Sundays. My check out with Monday and we could hear a DJ going all night. I wish they would move that to Saturday for weekend fun. The bars were really really good. They could make whatever drink you wanted. My husband did wish the beer selection was better but overall he was ok with what they had. We did order room service one night for dinner it was average but we did not do that again. Breakfast was 10/10. We did decide to do more restaurant eating, which was soo good. Olas was our go too for tacos. The grill was very very good. The Kitchen was amazing due to the selection. They French restaurant was even better. Filet mignon melted in your mouth. Our room was cleaned multiple times a day which I appreciated so much. We did see a couple water bugs but what can you do! Overall 10/10

Excellence is a beautiful property. However, this property is VERY laid back and down right quiet like a library. I visited with a group of 6 (middle age professionals in their 50’s) and when we laughed while having a good time, I felt like we were a disturbing the library. The environment is definitely for those who want a low key energy and activity during the daytime. The DJ experience and daily volleyball games were the highlights of the visit. There was also a daily poker game. The food was ok and is always subjective to personal taste and preference. But nearly all the cooked to order food we received was cold!!! The Grille is a steakhouse and the steaks were even served lukewarm. I ordered medium-well and it was cooked well done. The waiter offered to fix it, but I declined because it was so late and we had already waited for so long. They fixed me a new meal anyway and the steak was prepared as originally requested. I really appreciated this effort to go the extra mile. It was delicious!! I wish this kinda effort was put forth the first time throughout the resort. If you’re looking for a laidback resort, in a remote area, this is for you! If you’d like more excitement and activities, and may want to venture off the resort, this will not satisfy your appetite.

The property was beautiful, we loved the lazy pool. The food was mediocre, most of our meals were not warm and the food wasn’t good. 60 percent of the staff wasn’t friendly. This resort is made for honeymooners and older adults. We found the resort to be very boring. Young and middle aged people beware. Also the seaweed smell was strong and unpleasant at times. I wouldn’t visit again.

This was a beautiful property and the staff were absolutely amazing and so friendly. The pool was my favorite part and we had such a beautiful view of it from our room. We went during sargassum season so the beaches weren’t usable and there was a strong bay smell on some days but the rest of the resort was so beautiful you didn’t even need the beach! I would definitely come back.

This is my first time to this property, but I'm not new to the Excellence brand. Theu did not disappoint. I got 5 star treatment everyday. I didn't even have to leave the pool to have lunch - it was delivered. I didn't clean my own sunglasses. I had 6 towels on a bali bed for one person. Living the dream!

Excellence Riviera Cancun is a spectacular property! Beautiful rooms, activities are tons of fun, swim up bar definite must! The restaurants are far better than any other resort I’ve been to in the area. No need to make reservations, you aren’t limited on what you can order on the menus. Chez Isabella, French-top notch food and service! The Grill, steakhouse, Lobster House-grilled lobster is wonderful. Make sure to catch Agave when they serve their special very authentic menu for the week-I think it’s on Wednesdays. Off the hook! Big shout out to Pablo at the Terrace Bar-he made our stay extra fun! If you’re going in the summer-the seaweed problem is gross! Excellence is one of the few resorts that keeps their beach clean but the smell and murkiness of the water due to the overgrowth of seaweed-no one really uses the beach in the summer. This is a problem all over riviera Maya coast in the summer, except for Isla Mujares. Excellence Riviera Cancún is a superb resort!!
