I have to start by saying the smell in the lobby of this resort is to die for. I could literally sit in there all day. My husband and I arrived to this location with transportation through MTS and it was amazing. We arrived to champagne and hand towels. We got there early so our room was not available but we were allowed to eat and walk around the resort. The staff was incredibly nice and respectful. We were always greeted politely. The entertainment was very good for a resort. We loved Karaoke night. It was so much fun! They should offer this more than once a week. Saturdays are a bit more quiet due to some people checking out on Sundays. My check out with Monday and we could hear a DJ going all night. I wish they would move that to Saturday for weekend fun. The bars were really really good. They could make whatever drink you wanted. My husband did wish the beer selection was better but overall he was ok with what they had. We did order room service one night for dinner it was average but we did not do that again. Breakfast was 10/10. We did decide to do more restaurant eating, which was soo good. Olas was our go too for tacos. The grill was very very good. The Kitchen was amazing due to the selection. They French restaurant was even better. Filet mignon melted in your mouth. Our room was cleaned multiple times a day which I appreciated so much. We did see a couple water bugs but what can you do! Overall 10/10

The place was very clean staff was top notch, the beach front left something to be desired with all the seaweed everywhere couldn't actually get into the ocean. For me the night life was no existent other than the martini bar and sports bar other than than it was a ghost town by 9 30 pm. Food was average for me wasn't terrible but I wasn't to the moon about it we actually went into Cancun for dinner a few times as some of the restaurants weren't even open. Its a great place but would I go again not likely based on the overall vibe but its a great place to go if your looking to relax by a pool.

This is by far the best resort we have stayed at, and we’re already talking about a second trip. From the moment we arrived, we were showered with good service, friendly smiles, and amenities. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, with a large shower, toiletries and comfy beds. We got a swim-up suite, and the extra cost was worth it. The food and drinks were stellar in both variety and quality. From the large breakfast buffet to the many restaurants, we never ran out of places and things to eat. The service at the resort was the best we’ve ever seen. Each employee is kind and attentive, making our stay easy and comfortable. Special shoutouts to: Josias at the front desk, who helped us check in with a smile. Eliseo from the bike tour that took us off the resort and into the main town. He always looked out for our safety, showed us around town, and helped us pick out the perfect gift. Adrian and Angel-O on the entertainment team. From Bingo to Aqua Aerobics, these two had the whole audience laughing and dancing along. Jose the bellboy, who helped us contact our airport transfer services when it failed to show up (third-party, not the resort's fault.) Without him, we would have been stranded; thank you, Jose! The only downside to this resort was the large amount of seaweed on the beach, making the cold water inaccessible at times. Overall, our experience at Excellence Riviera Cancun was immaculate. We want to thank all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

While the hotel is not new, the grounds are well kept, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The pool area was also clean with friendly staff there to assist with beverages and food. The beach did have a lot of seaweed, but that is not the fault of the hotel. My only recommendation is more pool activities. For instance, other resorts have paddle board yoga in the pool, a live DJ, foam party during the day etc. This resort really caters more to a couple's romantic experience with rather than more active adults. It wasn't a problem, just more sedate than other adult places.

I was assigned the same staff member as another couple during check-in, even though we had different rooms and completely different needs. The couple already knew the hotel, but it was my first time, and I wasn’t given any basic tour or explanation of the main facilities and benefits. It felt like a missed opportunity to make the guest feel welcomed and informed. Also, the beach was dirty with seaweed the entire time, which impacted the experience. These are important areas the hotel should improve.

Great staff (some of the best I’ve encountered). Food was great with plenty of options and variety throughout the week. Much more of a slow going type of resort with activities to do, but a lot of lounging. Only downside would be the beach. Plenty of lounge chairs and the beach itself is great, but the water around here isn’t clear and only saw a handful of people swimming. Other then that I would recommend this resort.

Not enough floats (they were gone before 9am), "lazy river" doesn't actually have a current or actually function as a lazy river would, ppl are saving cabanas before 530am so it's impossible to get one, food was not good at all. Beach was terribly dirty, filled with seaweed and extremely murky. "Lobster house" restaurant doesn't have actual lobster for spring and most of summer, which is peak season for travelers, not sure why it's named that. Room smelled super musty.

The resort was very clean. The food choices and quality were great. Activities and entertainment were fun. Most importantly, every staff member I encountered was helpful, friendly and respectful. Standouts are "Angel O" (activities) and Xania (fitness). The resort is lucky to have them both. Angelo is amazing. He is entertaining, funny and inclusive. Xania is an excellent fitness instructor. She is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
