We truly enjoyed our stay in Edinburgh! The apartment was convenient to train, tram, grocery & many fun eating establishments. It was clean, very well appointed and comfortable...full kitchen, washing machine & wifi a plus! Because we were family, having only 1 toilet for 5 adults was not an issue.
This flat was great! It was comfortable, clean and convenient. Our only issue was that we couldnât figure out how to put the hot water on for one of the showers.
Easy to get to/from the train station, walkable to everything. The home is old and charming, which also means the floors are quite uneven and squeaky. We had pretty much everything we need at the home and what wasn't there we were able to find at one of the 2 stores within a couple blocks from the apartment. Communication was a bit of a challenge prior to our visit, but by the day of our stay, the wonderful Sonia came through and addressed all of our questions and concerns.
The rooms all have large beautiful windows and we appreciated all the day light. It is a relatively quiet neighborhood with many shops and dining options. The apartment had a well stocked kitchen and there is a food market right next to the building which was so convenient.
We were in the apartment for 9 days during the Fringe which was wonderful.
Re the flat: Pros: Clean; great location. Cons: It does not have âtwo full bathsâ as stated. There is 1 toilet in the flat. We were 6 adults â *one* toilet. (âShower roomâ has only tiny sink & small shower) - both showers have @17 inch max opening. Washer is in the hall closet w/heavy autoclose door that has to be held open w/your body while loading & unloading the washer. Before you can do that, the closet has to be emptied of mops, buckets, canister vac, drying rack, ironing board bc they block access to the washer. Nowhere to put these things but the hall, where they block access to the front door & bedrms. Poor quality linens & @70% of fixtures/furnishings are Ikea. Now I like Ikea which is why I recognize the stuff but weâre not talking about high-end furnishings here â this is not a well appointed luxury flat.
Re the host BHH: A lot of trouble making the booking, made worse by repeated crickets when I asked for info/assistance. Finally got a booking in place & was told that 30 days before arrival Iâd get check-in info, instr for final pmt, etc. No info by 25 days out, so emailedâ then got an auto âaway on vacationâ reply w/no other POC. Left a voice msg asking she contact me as soon as she was back in the office. She did not. Had to chase her down daily for most of the wk after she got back (now our arrival was @2 weeks away) â no ack from her that she dropped the ball, or any sense of urgency to finalize the booking as should have been done before her vacation.
The apartment was as pretty as its pictures. It is in an old building so there were creaky, not quite level floors but that soon became a part of its charm. The location was perfect for exploring both Old Town and the New Town. We could walk to any of the major sights in less than half an hour. The neighborhood itself was hip and urban without being too busy, with virtually no tourists. There must have been more than a dozen small restaurants, pubs, and take-outs within a five-minute walk.
Six night stay in this lovely apartment. Wonderful location with market just three doors up the street and plenty of restaurants. Comfortable beds. Local bands on Friday night, but quiet nights otherwise. Prompt response from host. We very much enjoyed our stay!
