Hi there, my name is Phil and this is my home in Lisbon and yours when I'm out of town.

My home is located in Castelo, Lisbon's oldest and best preserved neighbourhood, sitting on a hilltop crowned by the medieval SĂŁo Jorge Castle.

The area is sprinkled with really amazing restaurants, cafes and bars. I'll brief you on where best to book in advance of your arrival so you don't miss out on the more difficult spots to get reservations at while in town.

There is a car park and supermarket right next to property, built into the side of the hill. Plus an elevator to scale the hill if you're feeling a bit lazy on occasion.

I've fitted out the property with best of everything and I'd really appreciate it if you could treat it like you would if it was your own.

The apartment has the most stunning views over the city and gets the most incredible sunsets every evening.

Although the property is super central and close to everything you could possibly want or need, it is also a quiet oasis of sorts with a pretty serene balcony, sitting room and master bedroom overlooking the downstairs garden.

the property is well located in alfama area.very helpful that it is so close to the castle elevator as that hill can be rough at the end of the day. views are lovely. also proximity to grocery is a big plus just to keep breakfast and a few beers in hand. nice info from host about area restaurants and great reference material in unit on lisbon and areas of interest. it was quite warm in lisbon during our visit so it could get quite warm in the unit and all that walking and hills creates quite a sweat! overall great week and super central location in a neat part of town. ps we used the parking garage which was quite close for a few days and that also went smoothly. not cheap but car was parked and mostly out of harms way!

Great Location

We really enjoyed our stay and the location was very convenient to everything. Even thought the location was near the castle, the property was very quiet and made for a relaxing stay (full disclosure, the hill to the location is very steep and a great workout each return if you don't take the elevator option). Philip was very responsive and provided advanced communication prior to our arrival and was available and checked in during our stay. This is a charming apartment and is an older building that is well maintained. At one point we took a two day trip break to Porto and stayed in a hotel that was very nice, but my wife and I both commented that we felt more at home on our return to the apartment.

Perfect!

Phil's place was exactly what we were looking for! The apartment was clean and comfortable and just the right size for my husband, myself and our daughter. Our room was in the back and very quiet. She was in the front near the street but with the windows closed and the fan on it was fine. The neighborhood is great. Easy walk down to the city center and right next to the elevator that can bring you back up so you don't have to climb up the steepest part of the hill on the way back. In the elevator building is a supermarket where we got fresh squeezed orange juice and fresh fruit for breakfast. There are restaurants, pastry shops, coffee shops and Gelato all around and a little souvenir shop right across the street. Phil was very responsive before we got there. We didn't need to contact him while we were there because everything went smoothly! Pablo was an unexpected treat. He made us feel most welcome. đŸ˜»

The location was perfect, restaurants and stores were all around us. Grocery store very close for shopping. The apartment was great, very clean and a nice little patio to stand out on. A beautiful view from the patio. Would definitely stay again.

Having a grocery store nearby and several restaurants we could walk to, made it convenient to tour during the day and relax in the evening. Philip was easy to converse with. Comfortable, Convenient & Calming

If you’re looking for a lovely home base for your stay in Lisbon, we highly recommend Phil’s place. Conveniently located in Alfama, right below São Jorge, there are numerous fabulous restaurants/cafes and a grocery store just a short walk away. The apartment is very clean, light and airy with plenty of space and the necessary amenities. Sitting up high as it does, we loved the view overlooking the garden below and the cool breezes that flowed through the apartment at the end of hot and busy days touring. Phil is an accommodating host and was very responsive to our questions. We would return in a heartbeat.

Great 1st Time in Portugal

Even though it is an old apartment - understandably as it is in a great location in the old part of Lisbon - it was very comfortable. The internal furnishings are all aged but still adequate for a very relaxed lifestyle. The very small dining table in the kitchen is a wasted space as it would be impossible to have more than 1 person fit into the space to sit down. Philip, the owner, was extremely good with his responses and suggestions while we were there, but upset us after we left by trying to blame us for some “markings” on the extremely old bar. As we had only placed a wine bottle and glasses on It during our week long stay we were completely flabbergasted, and upset by his accusation, especially after looking after his apartment so well. The standard 125 Euro cleaning fee was also excessive. Overall, apart from the bitter taste left by his accusations, I would certainly recommend Philip’s apartment for its location.

Phil’s place on Castelo

Phil’s place is great. A centralized location convenient to many attractions and the metro and Rossio train station. Phil’s place was very comfortable with a sizable living space, a great view out the back, easy access from the front, and right around the corner from the grocery store. A very diverse selection of restaurants and shopping within easy walking distance. We highly recommend this place.

Super cool flat in the heart of Lisbon

We had an awesome stay. This is a super cool apartment - very comfortable and the host is super friendly and easy to work with. Location was just perfect for us - surrounded by amazing architecture, awesome view and many local amenities in walking distance. You can literally walk out of the door and be strolling around the old town/Alfama. Loads of restaurants and more within easy walk plus the rest of the city, tram etc is super accessible. Would absolutely recommend.

Wunderschöne Tage in Lissabon!

Insgesamt ist es eine sehr schön eingerichtete und gepflegte Untekunft. Die Lage ist genial fĂŒr jede Art von AusflĂŒgen. Durch die Lage kann man immer mal wieder fĂŒr eine Pause in der Unterkunft Zuflucht suchen. Generell ist der GerĂ€uschpegel fĂŒr die Lage mitten in der Stadt gering. Allerdings kann man die Fenster im Schlafzimmer zur Straße wegen der LautstĂ€rke nicht öffnen und es könnte bei Hitze schon stickig werden. Die Betten sind sehr gut. - insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert!!

Great place and location

Phillip’s home was the perfect setting for our hopes of experiencing the Portuguese culture and Amazing city of Lisbon. It is very nicely updated throughout with a fantastic kitchen! Step out the front door into the heart of old Lisbon with everything you’d want just short walks away. Definitely do NOT need a car. Great view. Lovely people. We recommend it highly!

Incredible property

Phil's apartment was perfect for our 5 day stay in Lisbon. Right in the heart of the Alfama district, you are close to countless great restaurants, many different tour attractions and it was fun just to get 'lost' in the neighborhood. Phil was very responsive to all our needs. The apartment was very clean and ready for us when we got there. There is a beautiful view of the city from the living room and primary bedroom. If you are looking for a place to stay, book this place.

Our host was very accommodating and helpful with things like nearby restaurants. The listing and pictures were very accurate, which I appreciate. Getting around on foot was easy helped by the nearby lifts that save you walking up/down the hills near the castle. I would definitely stay here again.

Historic property, view to die for...

Wonderful stay in the Aflama district of Lisbon. Excellent communication with owner, Phillip from the beginning. Very comfortable, spacious two bedroom flat with sweeping view of Lisbon and water. Two bathrooms. Easy access from street (just a few steps from front door) although on a very steep hill. If you have luggage, a taxi is the way to go. Great wifi, large screen television, washing machine. Extremely pleasant in every way.
