About this property

The Lanaux Mansion's private guesthouse. Location, balcony, courtyard. Sleeps 7

Standing on the Lanaux Mansion property, the Marigny Maisonette guesthouse is your secret oasis at the heart of all the Big Easy action; a calm, quiet eye in the whirlwind of music and celebration that is the Faubourg Marigny.

Sitting in our lush gardens with just the trickling of the fountain to soothe your soul, it’s hard to believe the French Quarter is less than a block away in one direction, and jazzy Frenchmen Street just a few steps in the other.

But that’s the beauty of this secluded garden escape, centrally located yet all but hidden from the bustling world outside.

__________

What began as modest servant quarters in the 18th century has evolved over the decades to become the one-of-a-kind place it is today — a three-story, two-bedroom guesthouse just brimming with eclectic charm.

On the ground floor, the kitchen and living room invite cozy gathering, with updated appliances, a thoughtfully arranged dining area, and fully stocked dishes and utensils — not to mention a smart HDTV for your favorite streaming services. Wi-fi, laundry facilities, and central heating and cooling are just a few of the other comforts you’ll find.

Just outside the French doors, the spacious, leafy courtyard offers plenty of room for relaxed coffees and cocktails, plus a grill for cooking out.

When it’s time to rest up, pull out the queen-sized sofa sleeper, or ascend the unique spiral staircase to the two levels above, each equipped with sunny sitting areas, garden-facing balconies, private bathrooms, HDTVs, and luxurious queen beds for deep, carefree slumber. There’s even a comfy futon bed on the third floor for an additional guest.

__________

Prized for its sense of peace and seclusion, the house has long played host to a revolving cast of travelers and colorful local characters — including artists, playwrights, TV producers, and war heroes. Most notably, New Orleans businessman Clay Shaw sought refuge here after being accused in the murder of JFK. (He was quickly acquitted.)

Nowadays, this graceful property with its shaded courtyards is the perfect dreamy hideaway for visitors like you; visitors who love all the music, fun, and excitement New Orleans has to offer, but who also want a place to relax.

Never before available to the public, The Marigny Maisonette is now open for you to come stay. So step inside, drop your bags, and shed your worldly concerns at the door.

Great stay with a great location. The courtyard was such a nice addition. Andrea was super helpful and the house was perfect for our stay. We will be staying here next time we are in New Orleans.

Fabulous location!
Loved the location of this property. We wanted to be close to Frenchman St, but also within easy access to French Quarter. This place was perfect. We also particularly loved the outdoor garden and courtyard with nice outdoor lighting. It was very private and lovely. The 2 bedrooms were very large and comfortable each with their own bath. Getting to them via the circular staircase was unique, but a bit dicey going up to the third level as the handrail was loose towards the top. Very handy to have a half bath on the first floor, although it took us a minute to find it, as it is accessed via the courtyard. The kitchen was nicely stocked with plenty of tea and coffee supplies as well as fresh milk, OJ, and biscuits, a really thoughtful touch! Thank you to the hosts for a lovely stay!

Private Frenchman Street escape
We thoroughly enjoyed this uniquely New Orleans property! Very clean and comfortable, we felt right at home! The location couldn’t have been better for Frenchman Street activities, as well as easy access to the Quarter. Despite being in the center of the action, the property was still very private and relaxing! A perfect New Orleans escape! Paul S.

It was an amazing getaway!
What a wonderful find! A unique guesthouse tucked back in a courtyard with a beautiful hidden secret garden. Super peaceful and quiet, which is kind of amazing since it's one block from all of the music clubs on Frenchmen St. and just across the street from the French Quarter. It has the character of an 1850’s guesthouse, but with all the modern amenities. We really enjoyed making dinner in their well stocked kitchen. A wooden spiral staircase took us to the bedrooms -each have a cool balcony looking onto the courtyard. A lovely place to gather and enjoy with a fountain that just adds to the relaxed vibe. We will be back !
