We had a terrible experience at the Sonesta Downtown New Orleans with the exception of the front desk person Ashley! She was absolutely amazing! Our rooms on the other hand, were terrible. First room kitchen flood, towel rack fell off the wall when trying to get a towel, air conditioning did not work in one of bedroom. Maintenance came up to check all the items, said they would return left our hotel room door open for over an hour never returned. When we called was told they were canceling our room and placing us in another room. Six hours later nothing. After continuing our vacation and returning to the hotel Ashley was at the front got us in another room. That rooms television would turn off and on. Hotel room phones did not work. Just a really bad experience that hotel needs to work on and communication was horrible other than Ashley!

We enjoyed our stay. The staff and valet were super friendly. The rooms were spacious and clean. The place did have an odor in the halls and the walls were thin so you could hear other guests having fun. It didn’t bother us because people were just trying to have a good time. Bourbon st. Was literally walking distance and so was the superdome. If you want things extremely quiet I wouldn’t recommend but if you understand people having fun it’s a great place to stay. We traveled with our kids and we all had a good time. I would definitely stay here again.

Never again. The surrounding area is full of homeless people and reeks of downtown smells. Parking was expensive and inconvenient. I saw a huge rat run across the parking garage . The elevators are dirty and the walls are thin enough to hear details of the neighboring room's conversation. The bathroom light has an automatic fan that is noisy and runs at all times when the light is switched on. The staff is unfriendly and lacks basic customer service skills. Minimal greeting and no smiles. Location to Bourbon street is good but that's all this hotel has to offer. I wouldn't recommend or stay here again.

WiFi didn’t work so to finish a work project at a hotel that suggest free WiFi and doesn’t was not very accommodating. When the cover were pulled back the bedding had multiple stains including what looks like a bed bug egg or shell of a bug very disgusting I couldn’t sleep in a room like that I was very uncomfortable my entire trip. My sister woke up with a rash. I was told the deposit would be 100$ I was charged 350$ which was very inconvenient being that I was told 100$ There was only one staff member present at the front desk he couldn’t provide needed service because “he had to FIND new blankets and sheets” we never got the sheets or blankets (not his fault he was alone with no help). I checked out and forgot my necklace called the front desk wasn’t gone 20 mins someone had already taken it. On top of that I woke up to another charge of 132$ that’s was told to me by staff “it was a glitch In the system” and it would take 3/5 days to resolve which seemed like a scam I feel as though this company is not a very trustworthy company there was to many scam likely events occurring I want to be accommodated for my inconveniences this is not what I was expecting from SONESTA I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with not only the service that was provided but the unkept and lack of cleanliness of this property.

When I first arrived the front desk staff was not welcoming. I was told my reservation was cancelled but I never received an email advising of that. Although Expedia said that I could pay at property I was told my card on file which was not the card being used for the purchase declined so my reservation was canceled by the hotel. So I had to wait 35 mins before I was able to get a room to accommodate my stay but I noticed the rate was charged higher so this was another issue. I did speak to the night front desk staff, after another 30 mins of him trying to resolve the discrepancy. The room was ok but the trash or towels were not replenished ran out of face towels on my last day and the room rate was not worth the price. Breakfast was decent good variety Unfortunately I will not be booking to stay at this property.

The initial communication with front desk staff was poor and unaccommodating. However, the staff tried to assist after further interactions. Upon the day of checkout, I was disturbed 4-5times by staff asking about checkout. However, upon check-in I paid for early check in and late checkout. Then it looked like a manager who came by to advise that they do not do late checkout on Saturdays which i expressed that this was not mentioned at check in after making the arrangements for the late checkout payment. I find this was unacceptable as the manager said she will go to check as she was not aware of this and if the payment was not done then i would have to check out before the late time. Of my 17+ years working in the hospitality industry, I have never experienced this..10 mins later, the manager returned to express that they will honor the late check out. But what i dont understand is that if I already paid for a late checkout how are they saying they are going to honor it? It was already paid for. She apologized and said it was a miss communication. I am already upset because of the inconvenience, utterly unprofessional and unacceptable. I will not return to this establishment but I would not deter anyone from visiting.

It could use upgrades and a deep disinfecting cleaning. A lot of wear and tear throughout the hotel and my floor, the 11th, had a nusty dingy scent. Also, why are there no ice machines? Checkin was great. Check out, the older black gentlemam was more concerned with his cellphone than helping.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The room was very nice, the bed was super comfortable, and the staff was absolutely adorable and welcoming. The location is convenient—close to everything and easily accessible by bus, which made getting around New Orleans super easy. It’s the perfect place to stay, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the city!

My stay was pleasant overall. The suite was clean, comfortable, and quite spacious. Although there was some minor noise from the air conditioning and refrigerator, it didn’t affect my rest. The hotel’s location is excellent, within easy walking distance of Bourbon Street. A good choice for the price.

Staff was fantastic! We loved the security. The spaciousness of the room, the kitchenette gave us the option to cook and eat in and that was wonderful! Easy walking distance to Bourbon St. Parking was confusing if not using valet but overall it was a definite 5 star stay.
