I was originally weary of it because of some of the negative reviews I had read, but to my pleasant surprise my stay was perfect. My trip was in January of 2019 1-the beaches were perfectly clean and tidy, the sea weed was minimal and was kept clean by someone I don't know the staff or government. waters were comfortably warm and calm. 2-the all inclusive option is actually ALL INCLUSIVE there was no drink or food I needed and that I didn't get. I wanted Mexican wines and beers I thought for what they were quite good. 3-the quality of the food was outstanding. I would have liked to see more Mexican options but overall the quality was very good, but the cuisine overall was of the "fancy kind" which as you expect small portions and sometimes too fancy. but with the various options you never walk out hungry. 4-the service I can't say any more it was very good. I have been to quite a few 5 and 4 star resorts all over the world this one beats them all. Friendly faces everywhere and when ever you asked for something it was there I would say quite promptly. The private concierge made sure we had everything we needed and planned our trip to and from the airport as well. 5-The SPA was world class I personally didn't experience it but my wife had a complete half day session she thought it was an excellent experience. She highly recommends it. but it is on the expensive side just over $200. 6-check in and check out was flawless and the security in the facility is high.

As a team, we are especially pleased to have overcome your preoccupation on earlier reviews and made your outlook for Grand Velas a perfect 5 out of 5. All the aspects that you mentioned are very important for us, and you can be assured that, as a responsible hotel, we are continually making additions and improvements. We hope that this experience brings you back to our upscale all-inclusive and that you continue to see for yourself why we are now one of your favorites. Thank you!

Unfortunately the beach was suffering with a rare occurrence of sea weed. The hotel was great filled with a lot of activities both for young and old. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your comments on your recent stay at our resort. As the hotel representative, I feel pleased to see you had an enjoyable experience, in spite of the seaweed, which is a natural phenomenon that is occurring all along the Riviera Maya coastline. Our dedicated young men and women are up at 5 am cleaning our portion of the beach allowing you and all our valued guests to get the most out of the entire vacation experience. I hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future and continue pampering you with the quality and hospitality that you deserve. Thank you.

Traveling with the kids

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Quiet, amazing pool
Cons: No free Internet
We stayed here last week, for 8 nights. We have stayed in several all-inclusives, including the Grand Velas in Puerto Vallarta. There were four of us, including two kids 8 and 10 years old. First the good: - Best pool I have ever seen. Huge, and perfect for the kids to play in, which they did for 6 hours every day. Beautiful infinite pools, and nice swim up bar, right up to the ocean. The only pool that compares to this is the Grand Velas in Puerto Vallarta. No slides or anything, but the kids still loved it. We never had a hard time getting a chair, but more on that later. -Best food you will ever have at an all-inclusive. 5 star food all of the way, many courses, and you feel like you are eating at the fanciest restaurant in your town, every night. Kids menus at the restaurants that allow kids. I thought is was nice to have some restaurants that do not allow kids, nice to be just my husband and me, and send them to the kids club. -rooms are a good size, with a big patio, that we hung out at a lot. We had a great ocean view that was perfect. Good mini bar that they restock every day, and they will put in things you like, if asked. - great service everywhere, loved Julio at the swim up bar. Always remembered the kids, and made them ask for things in spanish, which was a great way for them to learn. -we were upgraded to the ambassador section, because they were doing some work at the Zen, so glad we were. Nice to be near everything. We did see the Zen section, still very nice, but you would get the jungle feel, and no ocean views at all. Bigger kids club though, which might be nice, if it were busier. Things that were just ok: -No one was there the first week of June. Don't know why. The prices are high, but worth it, and the place was only at 15% capacity, so nice to always get your chairs and reservations, but would have been better to have bit more going on. - there were a few other kids there, but my kids connected with none, like they have at other resorts, so boring for them on that regard. The kids club did none of their scheduled activities, so it was just a place for them to hang out and play xbox, while we went to dinner -Nothing going on at night at all, no music, no bar happenings, nothing. I don't want a raging party, but it would have been nice to have something. I know the place wasn't full, but I wish there was something to do after 9:00. -The rooms are nice, but loud, you can hear everything going on in the bathroom, which isn't always good. The beds are comfortable, but I prefer the rooms at the Grand Velas in Puerto Vallarta. There are two bathrooms in the rooms, and the bedroom area is shut off with a door, so really nice. I was hoping for that here. -the beach itself is nice, with fine white sand, but no place to actually play in the ocean. You can walk 10 minutes either side to do that, but nicer, if it were just in front. Such a great pool, so that helped. Over all really great, we had a nice time, and will probably be back. I think if we were there at a different time of year, I would have all raves.

excellent in every way!

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, wonderful menus
The food was superb, the staff extremely cordial and accommodating with dinner reservations (our family group was 24). The photographer arranged by Grand Velas was excellent. The bar staff mixed great drinks and we would definitely go again!
