Staff and housekeeping were wonderful. Such friendly and helpful staff. Being in the jungle was such a treat. Swimming in the on-site cenote was a highlight. Food is… fine. Highly recommend going to the Mexican food buffet. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. Beach is okay — it’s smaller and rocky, so bring water shoes. It’s ideal for little ones with a protected area that small children can swim in safely.

My family of 5 (myself, husband, 15 year old daughter, 14 year old son, and 8 year old son) loved that this resort had something for everyone. I have never stayed at a resort like this one. The property was beautiful. It felt like you were walking through a jungle. Beautiful trees, cenotes, ruins, and monkeys. The only 2 things I would say are that the beach is not great for snorkeling and is not the type you can walk out far in clear turqoise water. There is an area that is available for swimming but it's not very deep or clear but suitable for children. The other thing would be the food. There's nothing special about it. I was expecting better from Mexico. The fruit was amazing especially the mango and pineapple.

Do not recommend - hands down the most disappointing resort we've ever been to. It is a beautiful property, lush greenery, animals all around, nice beach; but the service was downright awful. Let's start with the food. International buffet is ok - kids will like it just fine; but when it's busy they can't keep up with demand for the few decent items, so you get what you get. The Italian buffet was awful, don't bother. As for the other restaurants, the Brazilian steakhouse is a good option for breakfast - service is slow, but the food is better than the international buffet. The one really good meal we had the whole trip was at the Asian Teppanyaki restaurant. Los Lirios was literally terrible, food was awful, don't waste your time. The "mac & cheese" was penne noodles with nacho cheese sauce, that's it...and the nacho cheese sauce was disgusting. Also, the taco bar that's open late is also disgusting, not worth it no matter how drunk and hungry you are. Aside from the food, the whole resort was in a sad state of disrepair. The boardwalks around had loose boards everywhere, my wife fell and injured herself on a loose board...so be careful. Half of the waterpark was closed the entire week we were there, and one morning we woke up to no running water at all for several hours across the entire resort. Also, the wifi frequently fails for hours at a time. As for general service....well, my nephew wiped out one night and split is lip open in the room. We called the fron

This resort is magical. It really has something for everyone. We enjoyed onsite Mayan Ruins, snorkeled in a Cenote outside our room, pools, waterpark, rescue animals, wild animals like monkeys, coatis, and cats wandering in front of you, and top it off with all inclusive food and drinks! Things we saw but didn't do- Segway rentals, bikes, tennis courts, kayaks, paddleboards, and Kids Club. But that is only because we ran out of time exploring and enjoying ourselves. Buffets were good and satisfying. I was up with kids by 7am when they were nice and quiet and well stocked. Do yourself a favor and book the Brazilian Steakhouse right off the bat, and enjoy all the meats they slice for you at the table! My mouth is still watering from that experience. El Templo was a fun teppanyaki experience for our kids. Hot dogs and burgers were served daily at the main pool and we enjoyed tacos and quesadillas at Nido just about any hour of the day. Pools were very nice. Tortuga and Main for guests, Adult Pool looked lovely but we had our kids in tow. Waterpark was fun, the biggest slides were closed during our stay but it didn't phase our kids. They still enjoyed the medium slides and the kiddie slides and splash park. Service was top notch and I can't wait to come back to this resort! 🌞🌴🌊

We had a great time. Although our room was near the wedding venue and the music was far too loud. Also every night there was a disco party that took place from 11pm to 1am also extremely loud. If the rooms near this area had a of updating with things like fixtures ie the shower head and maybe some sound proofing it would have be even better.

Dont go here !!!!!! First off they try and draw you in with their fun water park , however their water slides have been closed for a long time, thier pools are dirty and i mean DIRTY there was not a single day i could see my feet the water was murky and stuff floating in the water constant , the beach is gross with tons of seaweed and no where to really swim in the ocean , the food is limited as you are never able to get into the ala cart restraunt, you find out once ariving you have to book in with an app but guess what its all booked already, and the very worst part of this resort of all was how out of my group of 13 of us 9 of us fell ill , vomitting our brains out , ive never been this sick and i go to mexico every year , im so dissapointed with this resort ... i will say that the rooms were clean , the monkeys around were cool, and the cenote on site was beautiful ...not worth the horrible food poisoning you will catch from the lack of cleanliness. Also everything is incredibly far away , so be ready ro walk 15-20 mins each way if you want to eat , go to beach , go to the pool or cenote.

The food was terrible. Not only did my husband and I end up sick 4 out of the 7 days we were there so were a ton of other people not in our party. The concierge seemed helpful and willing to send the dr to us but then called back saying we had to go to them. When you cannot leave your bathroom from being so sick going to them was not possible. I am 6months pregnant and struggled from being so sick. It was not a clean place which is what myself and all the others think contributed to being sick.

We went to the Riviera restaurant twice and Alejandro Luis, and Jazmin were phenomenal when it came to their customer service! The second time we went we didn’t have a reservation but Jazmin took really good care of us and was able to accommodate our unplanned dinner. Alejandro and Luis were our waiters and they were amazing! Definitely recommend Sandos for families traveling with little ones. We will forsure be back!

We went for a wedding. We had Bed bugs in our first room followed by zero apology or any customer recovery. We got a new room with black mold. Then on night two about 13 of the people who travelled in for the wedding had food poisoning. We weren’t the only ones in the hotel who had it either. Save yourself some money and don’t stay here.

We stayed select adult only section. Rooms were outdated but had everything you need. Beds were comfy and pillows were all good. Shower size was nice. Toilet had seperate area with an actual fan. Only downfall in area was the size of balcony. Food options i would say is this resorts downfall. Breakfast always consisted, food at adult only pool was ok but main buffet for lunch and supper was very minimal. Expected more for size of resort. Shows were all pretty good. Best quality of resort for us was the monkeys everywhere and the adult pool, which is missing music and entertainment IMO. We would return again.

Just spent a week at Sandos Caracol Eco Resort. The resort itself was excellent from the staff, the rooms, the activities, and the food selection. The beach is not the best that’s for sure but that is something out of the resorts control. Highly recommend the a la carte restaurants. This resort does not deserve the negative reviews it receives.

Save your money and stay home! The eco portion of this resort was the best part. It had beautiful walking paths, waterfalls, and a suspension bridge. There was a pond to snorkel in, although the resort only provided life jackets, not masks and snorkels. We had to rent ours from the stand at the beach for $10 US per person. No one we asked could confirm this so we spend our morning walking back and forth from the pond to the beach and back again. Overall I found the staff to be incredibly rude. When I asked the concierge for a bandaid I was met with a huff and an eye roll. Some staff were, friendly, and accommodating, but overall I felt like a burden and annoyance asking for anything, especially in the sit down restaurants. The Royal Elite restaurant booked us a 10:00 PM reservation only to play the music so loud at 10:30 PM that we had to leave. They clearly wanted us and the other handful of tables there to leave. We had a late flight out so we rented a cabana on the beach. We had paid cash to the activities person the day before to book this. Upon checking out we were told that we did not in fact pay, and would need to provide a credit card for this. I argued with the front desk person till we were about to miss our transport, and my husband had to run around the resort to find the person we paid cash to and bring her to the front desk. The waterslides shown on the cover photo- that we specifically booked this resort for were also closed- we were never notified.
