Resort is beautiful. The majority of staff was friendly and very helpful. Shout out to Edgar at the buffet and Lydia at the spa. They made the place worthwhile. Food is a 2/10; however, Asiana was phenomenal start to finish.

Stayed in the haciendas with my wife and 4 year old in mid-January. We loved it! Food and service were great! Beach is beautiful. We never had to wait for anything. Our kid loved kids club, spent 4 hours a day there and always came out happy and asking to go again. We can’t wait to go back to Sandos Playacar!

We had made specific requests prior to arrival for access to a kitchen freezer to be able to freeze breast milk that my wife would be pumping while we stayed. We were ensured this would not be an issue. Instead, they denied us access to a proper freezer and only offered us a "dorm style" refrigerator with a "cubby freezer". -- This was not adequate and we lost over 100 ounces of milk. I spoke to 2 different managers and got the same response. We would have chosen a different resort/destination had we been told initially that this was unavailable. All the time and breaks my wife had to take from our trip in order to continue her supply for our baby was completely worthless and ruined her experience entirely. This is my childs well being and absolutely unacceptable by the resort. In addition, we spent $350 on a specialized cooler so that we could properly ship our milk back home FROZEN. This was another wasted expense due to their lack to follow through.

This resort was a letdown, leading to this detailed review – a first for me – to caution others. Despite paying a lot for a week-long stay, our expectations were shattered. The family resort, given the large wedding group, brought unexpected challenges. The golden bracelets, supposed to be exclusive, were useless. The premium club snack area had a persistent moldy smell, and the family resort was inconveniently far from the beach, worsened by a crowded train system. Not small kid friendly in this regard. Our room was outdated and unclean, with shower doors covered in soap scum, stained curtains, and a balcony glass resembling a bird's target (or some other white substance). It took four days to get our fridge filled, and no water bottles were provided, only a room-temperature bubbler gallon. Drinks in reused plastic cups contributed to cold sores among random wedding guests, including my 10 years old child. I have witnessed resort staff handwashing these cups and serving drinks to guests. The main buffet, offered mediocre food amid understaffed chaos. Food was same every meal and every day. The resort is insensitive to people who don’t eat pork for religious reasons with mixed and unlabeled food posing risks for allergies. The beach was the only positive, but even that had challenges with chairs and towels as these were often not available. The small, poorly maintained pools added to the disappointment. The overworked staff stayed indifferent despite tips. Stay away.
