This resort does have a handy location to the Xcaret eco park, but overall it is disappointing. The front desk is not very helpful at all, as they put us in the wrong rooms, then said they would move us on Sunday. Come Sunday the front desk knew nothing about this and they never moved us. We also did not get the extra items that we had purchased until 3 days after arrival, and then it was a small bottle of lousy tequila and 3 pieces of fruit- so don't bother with any upgrades. Then they behaved as if they had done us a big favour as opposed to giving us what we already purchased- I had to explain to them that in not providing this to us they were committing fraud. In addition, the food was okay at best and down right horrible at worst. If you like water you will enjoy the alcohol. We will definitely not be returning.

Incredible eco property!! Beautiful grounds, immaculately maintained and interactive wildlife including monkeys, deer, coati, parrots and Flamingos. Beach was beautiful but a little small, however the layout and giant sand bag softens the waves making it safe for little ones to swim.

Upon a confirmed reservation and after spending 15 minutes at reception they tried to tell us there was no rooms and that they were moving us to another hotel. We said no and asked to speak to a manager. An hour and a half went by. We were hungry, thirsty, and ignored. One manager went by and was giving air hugs to his employees. The other manager Jared never spoke to us until we tracked him down. They suddenly found a room when I started taking pictures of the manager and people ignoring us. The restaurants were closed because they had left us in the lobby, so they thought they made it all better by having us eat in some special spot. We asked for a discount on the room. The manager took our phone number from what’s app..and conveniently we never hear from him. The next day we spoke to another manager and gave him Our contact info...nothing. They waited until check out time and the concierge told us there weren’t any rooms. The response from them is that they gave us a late check out...not true as they never spoke with us. They closed the pools at 8pm, only had two restaurants open although they claim they had six, didn’t explain that you need a face mask to eat at the restaurant, and were not willing to accept any responsibility for poor treatment. The only reason we wanted to stay there was for the monkeys. Stay somewhere else that is not a Barcelo property and go to Aktun Chen if you want to see the monkeys.

We are sorry if you received a bad impression from our staff and actually surprise us to read that since we are recognized for giving excellent service to all our guests. We are also sorry if you did not get you room immediately, but we gave you VIP treatment and access after our managers talked with you and resolved the misunderstanding. We would like to clarify that we have 6 restaurants working as usual. for your security we had to closed one buffet but we have the other one working normally. The location of this property was great. We loved being right next door to Xcaret and benefitted from the unlimited pass. The property itself was pretty tired. The food was ok but we got tired of it by about the 3rd day. The speciality restaurants were better than the buffets! We received a $920 resort credit when we booked but it turned out that it was just a bunch of coupons and not a credit at all. Our room was a little mildewy (as many hotel rooms in tropical locations are) but that smell is still not out of our clothes 10 days after returning. We couldn’t adjust our air below 22 degrees and that was too warm and uncomfortable for us. Many of the shops on site are vacant. The larger pool was definitely a party pool and not great for families. Finally, it was difficult to obtain seats at the beach and the pool ... when we finally did find seating up the hill from the beach we were asked to leave because we didn’t have the correct bracelet (time share sales people were abundant & aggressive). In general, the property could use a facelift. Our main attraction was Xcaret and we enjoyed our time there and the convenience of being next door. However, I wish we would also have looked into the other Xcaret hotel and we would not return to this property.

The property was exceptional with many activities to do and the large pools were great. However I asked for a room closer to the room my grandchildren and father were staying in but ended up the opposite end of the resort. A lot of walking and stairs since they put me on the 3rd floor with no elevator. I am 75. Also the key code did not work three times so I had to walk back to the lobby and have it re-keyed. One day as I was getting out of the shower, in walks a couple into my room. There key opened my door! This was unacceptable as I told the front desk.
