Lights didn’t work, mold around the shower faucets. The hotel said they couldn’t help us, we needed to call Hotels.com. Just because a place is inexpensive, doesn’t mean it should be dirty and have no lights.

Our room had an odor (the pillows needed replaced (smelled)). The carpet was stained and dirty. We cleaned the AC/heat unit front and the bathroom with bleach. There was black mold around the tub/shower. The room just needed a refresh. Paint, new carpet and bedding would make it so nice. The man at the check in told us that if we wanted clean towels we had to bring our used ones to the front desk and trade them towel for towel. They apparently only clean on Mondays, so if our garbage cans needed emptied we were to sit them outside the room and someone one would come by and take the garbage and leave a new bag in the can. ??? Most of the staff were excellent and so very kind and accommodating. One staff member was not pleasant and prickly to get along with.

Great hub for Williamsburg family vacation

The Rodeway Inn Historic provided my family a great base for our visit to Historic Williamsburg and the surrounding area. It is within walking distance to Colonial Williamsburg and a short drive to Busch Gardens, Yorktown, and Jamestown. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. Parking is free (typically drive right up to your door). There is an outdoor pool that looked inviting, but we never got around to using it. The room air conditioner needed its filter cleaned, which I did myself, then it cooled the room nicely. Room and bathroom were in good condition with TV, refrigerator, microwave and hair dryer. We had a problem with our hair dryer, but the staff replaced it promptly. On check-in we were informed that housekeeping would not be visiting every day, but could be requested on an as-needed basis. This worked out completely fine for us. Breakfast was simple, but adequate for this price. Coffee, tea, SunnyD, cereal, toast, apple sauce, tiny donuts. The TV in the breakfast area was helpful showing local weather. There is also the Colonial Pancake House adjacent to the hotel if you require something more hearty. Hotel guests get a special discount there. Other good dining options are close by as well. One thing to note is that you should not enter the parking lot too quickly as the transition from the road is rather abrupt. Our interactions with the housekeeping and front desk staff were positive. They were always helpful and friendly.

Much like a mom and pop from the good old days

Very nicely located. It's an older property from the 1950s, with that "early American" look that so many places in Williamsburg styled after during that era. I am sure it was a mom-and-pop at one time. Because they've kept much of the original retro styling, there are some rough spots where it could use some refurbishing. But, I found it clean, comfy, safe, and very close to the historic district. Very inexpensive and just fine for my needs. I will be staying here again on upcoming trips.

There was blood on the walls of the bathroom and in the floor. The neighbor seemed to be an extended stay resident that chain smoked and was airing out her life’s drama loudly right outside our door. The cable box was missing when we arrived and the one that the front desk replaced with was not working within minutes. (Southerner wanting to watch football) All that being said, the staff member was super helpful and made sure that the second box was in proper working order. He also firmly asked the extended stay resident to respect the other guests and she did. So the rest of the stay was good. The blood on the wall and floor was a small enough amount that I did not complain but it was gross. I just felt like we had complained enough and I hate to be that person.

For the price I guess it's ok but the room is old, carpet is warn, the AC didn't work until I unplugged it and moved the plug. Water was luke warm not hot. Beds were clean, fridge was cold. Overall definitely rough around the edges but not dirty.

-outside is old and rickity -carpet was old and gross -walls looked horrible although we were told they were newly painted -top bedspread was discolored around edge -toilet never flushed on first try, always had to flush twice -mold spots on bathroom ceiling - little black bugs all over sink -showerhead was rubberbanded on and could use a shower mat, bottom was super slippery and unsafe. -you have to replace towels yourself, an even exchange. When asking for a couple extra for my daughter's OCD, i was lectured on "babying" my child by the man at the desk, completely dismissing my daughter's mental illness. -the chair in the room had a wierd red spot, right on the top, blood?? -towels wete stained/discolored -I think this hotel had a 7.6 rating on expedia, but I dont know how it got that!
