In general, I was well pleased with my one night at Motel One near Princes Street. The price was good for Edinburgh, the location was excellent, the room was very modern, and the shower was excellent. The staff were helpful in general. One perk of this hotel was that it would hold my luggage from mid-morning check-out until after 9 p.m. when I was going to take a train.
I visited the bar often and service there was good, as was the buffet breakfast for £9.5 (about $12): 3 kinds of meat, 2 kinds of cheeses, five different kinds of breads, etc. Coffee and cappuccino were excellent from beans being ground as one waited.
And there was good background music in the breakfast room.
There were some minor problems. The reception could not find my Travelocity reservation for ten minutes even though I showed the numbers. The reception was scrolling in my phone through my personal information trying to find something. My reservation was finally found on the hotel’s computer.
Information on how to use the room key card should have been better explained. COIK (Clear only if known).
In the bar, I hit my head on the ornamental Arc lamp. A lady did the same thing later. The lamp needs to be raised or removed.
Buffet breakfast:
Fruit must have been in the refrigerator for several days.
There were two coffee machines but only one was operational which caused a customer jam at the operating machine. There were NO INSTRUCTIONS on coffee machine.

I loved that they had a room ready for us and we were able to check in early and get that nap in before exploring. Hotel is central to everything and they made an amazing drink, summer in a glass.
There's a snack bar/deli on site. You can enjoy a drink at the bar/lounge. WiFi is free in public spaces. Tour/ticket assistance, multilingual staff, and express check-out are also featured at Motel One Edinburgh - Princes. This 3.5-star Edinburgh hotel is smoke free.
