First off, I travel often and have stayed at alot of iffy hotels in iffy areas for much less than I paid for this room. $140 before fees and taxes to be exact.
This hotel really takes the cake as far as a place that I would never stay at again. I was warned by my friends who live in Salinas that Kern Street was shady but I guess I didn't really pay that much mind until I saw the security officer patrolling the parking lot. I also had to fully document my car and my friend had to present her ID at check in along with my own (I suppose to ensure that we were the only two staying in the room?) According to them, there had been a prostitution bust on this site not too long before we came to stay. Shady, yes but I could still look past it for a comfy night sleep.
I understand and appreciate the security measures even though their presence set off some alarm bells and I cant blame a hotel for who stays there. Im grateful they have measures to try to keep guests safe.
There wereamenities in the room so dont expect them. No microwave, no fridge, not even a coffee pot.
I have paid less than $140 for other hotel rooms in busier ty settings and have ATLEAST had a coffee pot available.
Now down to the nitty gritty... The cleanliness of the room:
Filthy doors.
Semen on nightstand.
Dried food under bed.
No drain plug in bathtub.
Black mold around doors and fire sprinkler.
Dried blood/snot/fluid on walls.
Massive wad of wet toilet paper stuck to ceiling, spitwad style.
Horrible. The front desk guy was great but the room was dirty, they painted the bathtub to cover stains? No door seal on front door. The buttons on the heater unit were missing. I didnt shower here cause the shower head was so filthy i didnt want to get sick or have health issues. I wont be using expedia again.
Let me tell you about my recent stay at the Motel 6 at [Location]. It was nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment I tried to check in, the experience was subpar, with staff who seemed less than enthusiastic to be there.
However, the real kicker was the state of the room itself. It became painfully obvious that the door was not properly sealed or squared. Throughout the entire night, cold air poured in, making the room incredibly uncomfortable. Even worse, during some rain, water actually leaked in from under the door! This resulted in my shoes being damaged â something I certainly didn't budget for on this trip.
The combination of a drafty, cold room and water damage to my belongings made for a truly miserable stay. It's clear that maintenance is lacking at this location, and the poor door seal is a significant issue that needs to be addressed.
Save yourself the headache and the potential damage to your belongings â steer clear of this Motel 6. I certainly won't be returning. and to top it off, whoever was in the front desk at my checkout was extremely rude
