The estate was once owned by Papa Jack Laine (one of the founding fathers of Jazz music), the Walton family of Walmart fame (and one of the richest families in the world), and more recently, Paul Prudhomme - one of the most renowned chefs in New Orleans. Prudhomme filmed his famous “farm to table” cooking shows here, where he gathered fresh herbs and other ingredients from the gardens. These lush gardens live on to this day, including wine grape vines and a wonderful variety of fruit trees, including orange, peach, lemon, and fig.
