Our tennis team rented Janieâs Place for a tournament at MTC in Brandermill. It was a 30 min drive to Midlothian, but it was an easy drive. Our host was awesome, very communicative and helpful with finding local interests. We arrived to find a delicious pie waiting for us, which we decimated . A nice, big backyard, quiet street and lovely sun decks allowed us some relaxation between our matches. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms clean and functional. We would definitely return.
The interior of this older home is spotless and roomy. The beds were very comfortable, the two bathrooms were up to date, the kitchen had all appliances, The manager was very communicative. We are possibly returning in the summer for a stay here. The town of Powhatan is small and beautiful.
We were told it would be like staying in Grandma's house and unfortunately that was true. Just like Grandma's house much of the furniture was tired, many of the light bulbs were burned out, there weren't enough chairs for the dining room table, not enough plates, not enough silverware, no baking pans/sheets and the grill didn't work. Also, the upstairs bathroom (that services three bedrooms) is in one of the bedrooms... a little awkward to use after the people in that bedroom go to bed.
My family and I traveled to Powhatan for a wedding at The Mill at Fine Creek. The house and the town had such a beautiful small town vibe that was such a perfect place for us to hang out and get ready. We were able to enjoy the owners restaurant, which was right across the street, and an adorable coffee shop. There was also a great park nearby with walking trails and playground for the kids. We truly enjoyed our stay!
My friends and I enjoyed our stay at Janie's Place. The house was clean and the kitchen well-stocked for cooking. The home stayed cool in very hot weather thanks to AC and ceiling fans. The location of the home is another highlight; walking distance to several shops and restaurants. I will mention that the doorknob on the inside of the upstairs bathroom door did not engage the latch to open the door. I got stuck in the bathroom before I realized this; fortunately, my friends were there to "rescue" me, but this needs corrected for safety and privacy concerns.
Came to town for a family wedding, it was nice to have a place where my immediate family could relax between responsibilities! A room for everyone, nice equiped kitchen, cozy living room and dining area.
It was a wonderful place to get together with family to enjoy a wedding. We were able to be close to the venue, excellent food at the County Seat, and a quaint little town to walk around. Much better than staying at an impersonal hotel!
