We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sun Mountain house. It's a beautiful property from which you can walk into town or up further into the mountains. The house has some quirky aspects to it - such as a very small sink in the downstairs bathroom - but we quickly got used to them, and the library and grounds, where deer and hummingbirds are frequently to be seen - are well worth a stay here.
We loved the charming antique nature of the house. We were quite comfortable and all our needs were met. I do wish the living room had other furniture so the whole family could hang out comfortably. Also, the couch really needs replacing. Other than that, we were very happy with this home.
Wonderful place, great location, beautiful scenery
My family and I had a really comfortable stay here. It was roomy and had a fireplace that was nice on the cool nights. As a tea drinker I appreciated some tea to get me started before I went to the grocery store.
It was thrilling to stay in a house that truly had a historic ambiance. It felt we were living part of the Santa Fe world. One evening a small herd of mule deer came by. We were able to visit all the museums we wished and be with nature.
Very quirky place. We left behind some better cookware for the next folks.
We booked months in advance and I talked to someone on the phone about travelling with our toddler. We talked about a pack and play- they said they had one we could use! I got text messages reminding of our trip, and asked several questions weeks before our arrival. They never answered. I ended up bringing a pack and play for kiddo, which was good, because there was none at the rental.
We got a long email with instructions and disclaimers, but the wifi password was wrong and it seemed like generic info from the property management company.
The heater in one of the rooms was broken. There was a space heater as a replacement, but nothing to indicate the wall unit was bad. I texted about these issues and didn't get a response. I started messaging through the VRBO app for traceability. There was a lovely snow while we were there and a huge leak above a window. Finally they answered about the heater and the leak.
It's a very interesting place, lots of character, but the support from the host was not great.
Staying here will make you feel like you live in Santa Fe. The home is very comfortable, but previous reviews re: the small bathrooms are accurate. But there is a wood burning fireplace, comfy beds, and a very quiet neighborhood!
We loved the look and feel of this home. The bookshelves and decor were lovely. The bed in the master bedroom was super comfortable. We loved the location - it was far enough out of town that we even saw deer in the yard twice but close enough that it took just minutes to drive to the plaza or Canyon road.
We enjoyed our stay but the house is in desperate need of update. There were holes that were barely patched and exposed plaster, ,peeling paint and the bathroom sink is the size of an airplane sink. Furniture was not very comfortable. The pics online were very different from the actual house.
We loved staying in this adobe home within walking distance of Museum Hill and biking distance to the Plaza. It is a great place for families and friends.
My family and I really enjoyed staying at this home, with its books and lovely setting among little pine trees. There's a nice patio to sit on, and the books are a great asset. (Warning: the sinks are quite small, especially in the downstairs bathroom.) Overall, we loved staying there.
A long walk or short drive to everything. Very quiet neighborhood, lovely home. My only negative is that the bathrooms are very small and the downstairs one is oddly narrow. But I'd come back here in a heartbeat. Had a wonderful time. I was here with my 23 and 25 year old granddaughters celebrating my 80th birthday and we all loved the house.
