I understand the hotel is old but the bathroom in room 208 was the smallest, craziest one I have ever seen. The headboards were against the wall nearest the hallway. Out of a rating of 10 I would give it a 6.

Great location with parking provided. All staff very nice. Rooms were very clean and bed was comfy. Plenty of pillows and blankets. We could even open our window for fresh air as the weather was nice. Very large portions in the tavern.

A Wonderful Stay

I've been travelling a lot for work and the Hawthorne Hotel, and my stay at the Hawthorne Hotel has been a clear bright spot in my many nights away from home. The staff were lovely. The room was cozy and charming. The Tavern was a wonderful respite at the end of long days. The location is great. Love the walkable area nearby. On-site parking was super convenient. In short, a great place to stay.

We parked our car and didn't need to get in it again until we were leaving for the airport. The Hawthorne is in a perfect central location with walking distance to almost everything. Rooms are quite small but cozy. An overall great experience.

The historic building is lovely as is the reception area. The room was on the small side especially the bathroom. Within walking distance of the attractions.

Good Location

Check in was great and is in a great location. The hotel is old but I think that’s the look they are going for. My only complaint was the AC didn’t work. We were located on the 4th floor so the heat from below really heated up our room to almost 80 degrees. I turned on the AC to cool down the room but it just blew hot air. After speaking to the front desk they told me that it wasn’t going to work and that they would offer us a plug in fan. The windows only open up about 5” which makes sense for security reasons but it wasn’t enough to cool the room down and to make matters worse our room was above the kitchen vents so our room constantly smelled like a deep fryer. Other than that it was a good stay but I might venture elsewhere for my next stay in Salem.
