A fiery welcome

Location: Nice downtown location close to lots of stuff.
Old downtown hotel renovated and upgraded, but limited by original configuration of the rooms. A bit on the snug side, but had enough room for two beds. Disappointed that the shower and bathroom was not senior friendly, with no grab bars or other safety devices. Had to search for the shower mat. Parking was very tight, and there was barely room for three cars to check-in. Elevator from parking garage was not working, so had to carry two bags up narrow staircase. Didn't help that someone set off the fire alarm at 6:30 in the morning, so after navigating 17 floors downward, at least there was a Tim Hortons across the street. Waited until everyone went back up the elevator, and nobody in the lobby to say sorry, or anything. Did get a very gracious letter of apology in the morning when we checked out.

Room sleep area ok, but, bath smelled

Room sleep area and comfort were fine. However, the bath ventilation did not function for a long time as evidenced by the mildew growth and staining on the ceiling and walls. The bath had the smell of a sour dish rag.

Keep in mind the wifi is terrible in some rooms but included in price

Pros: Free Internet
Cons: wifi poor in some rooms.
Rooms are nice and within the price for quality. Wifi works in most of the building but is poor in some of the rooms. I am certain that if I had asked to be moved the hotel would have accomodated but I took the excuse as an opportunity to free myself from my email.

Excellent Staff and Hotel Service

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, centrally located downtown next to 24hr stores
I recently just stayed here for business and was thoroughly impressed with the waitresss staff, every single one was funny, cordial, extremely helpful and very understanding. The food was really good downstairs and the upstairs bar and wait staff was really laid back and on point. I would come back here for the service alone, though the toilet paper was kinda lame, and would bring your own. Free internet which was a huge plus considering out of country my carrier charges 10$ a MB! Rooms are sometimes nestled into a corridor within a corridor, so if you have a cart with a lot of gear or luggage it can be a major hassle getting in and out so request for a room on the end of a hallway if you have a lot of camera stuff like i did.

Older hotel in need of renovations

Pros: Free Internet
Cons: uncomfortable beds, old tired rooms
I was not impressed. I ended up in this hotel due to a last minute meeting and all the other hotels in the Calgary area were booked. Even though the restaurant on site was nice, with good food and friendly service, the hotel itself needs an update.

Excellent value

This is my second stay here and I will stay here again. The pluses: - great central downtown location with the C-train right at the door - Tim Horton's across the street for cheap fast breakfast! - daily hotel parking rate inexpensive for downtown Calgary - free internet access - the batteries in the TV remote were well charged! - quiet, clean - the hotel staff were friendly and helpful - Moxie's restaurant on premises: if you like this restaurant, then you'll be pleased. The menu is a little limited for my taste, however the staff were willing to do substitutions to make the selection more suitable for me. Here are the drawbacks experienced during my stay: - the bathroom is small. However as a single traveler this was not an issue for me - no fridge in the room - the parking garage is a little grim with old furniture stored there. There were repairs happening during my stay so we had to move our cars next door.

Middling hotel

We stayed in this hotel for 5 days and were a bit disapointed about the quality of service. Staff on reception sometimes was not very friendly and answered on questions very abstarct. Room service also was very strange, chambermaid came to clean room very early and knocked the door, couple times she woke us up - it was realy unpleasant, although room was really clean. Restaurant also is not bad, but there is almost no healthy choices in menu and menu isn't diverse enought for eating more then 2-3 times. All in all, this hotel correspond absolutely his 3,5 stars. And if you don't expect more, you may stay here.

Surpassed all expectations!

I can't say enough good about this hotel. It was the cleanest I ever had, even blankets and bedspreads are cleaned, unlike most hotels. The employees were always helpful and friendly Great fitness room, the indoor swimming pool was warm and clean, the food from room service was award-winning. I got a discount with my auto club card, which was nice for such a nice hotel. Even though it's right beside the C-train, I couldn't hear it enough to notice at night. Room darkening curtains if you want to sleep late, individual room temperature controls, truly the best traveling experience I ever had. Taxi stand in front of hotel made getting around so easy that was so glad I didn't have to walk a block or hail a cab or wait for a cab to show up that I might have had to call. Beautiful modern decor, luxurious beds and bedding, there was NOTHING to complain about with tihs hotel. I will be back.
