Over crowded and elevators were not operating efficiently. One elevator was down. Waited 10 min for an elevator. Too many overseas folks here. Not at all a good place for any discerning traveler.

I had an excellent stay at the RIU Plaza Chicago. One of my favorite parts was the Sky Deck experience — stepping out onto the glass and seeing the street directly beneath you was unforgettable and such a unique highlight of the trip. The breakfast was honestly the best buffet breakfast I’ve ever had at a hotel. There were so many fresh options and everything was well stocked, flavorful, and organized. It definitely set the tone for each morning. Customer service was great from start to finish. Check-in was smooth and easy, and even though we arrived early, a room was already available for us, which I really appreciated. The staff was friendly and welcoming the entire time. The hotel is also incredibly walkable. We were able to get to Michigan Avenue and several major attractions without needing transportation, which made exploring the city simple and enjoyable. Overall, I have absolutely no complaints about my stay. Clean, modern, convenient, great service, and an amazing breakfast — I would definitely stay here again.

Could not get a simple cup of coffee in the lobby either morning. Was told to go up to the restaurant. Restaurant told me I couldn’t have a cup that could go downstairs and had to drink it there. Had to go over to Marriott and bring it back. Restaurant is really a loud cafeteria. Not as advertised. Room was fine. Won’t stay at a RIU again.

My husband and I were on our Honeymoon & we missed our flight. Meaning our third party reservation through Expedia was going to charge us for the day we missed. But when we arrived to Hotel Riu, Anderson helped us promptly. He didn’t charge us fees for the day we missed. He checked us in right away with no problems or delays. This hotel is absolutely beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The bar drinks are so delicious and they do not skimp out on the alcohol. The rooftop is beautiful, with good food, and a fun glass ledge. Also, their breakfast is included and it was delicious. It’s a perfect selection of baked goods & breakfast food. The location is also top tier. It’s close to all the shops and Starbucks Reserve Roastery. It wasn’t far from the Riverwalk, LondonHouse, and other attractions. I will be bringing my family back here. I had the best time!
