Wonderfull staff

We recently stayed here for 3 nights, in a beautiful suite. The staff were all very friendly and did their best to make our stay great. We would come back and stay here again.

A good stay!

Pros: Quiet
The Lord Nelson is a heritage hotel in Halifax. It's a little outside the downtown but a 15-30 min walk will put you in the heart of the city. As in any heritage hotel the rooms are a little smaller then some newer builds but it has great character. I looked a room with a small kitchenette. In speaking with other guests I believe this afforded me a larger more comfortable room. I found the staff to be friendly and the service good. Overall an enjoable stay and I would recommend this hotel.

Second visit in thirty five years

Pros: Old world feel and glamour, Location
Cons: Ice machines, and free parking and breakfast!
Location: Across from Public Gardens -beautiful and restful. Music, ice cream at pavillion. Great resource for travel weary. Pete's Fine Foods around corner.
Stayed two nights and location was perfect - across from the Public Gardens, around the corner from Pete's Fine Foods, and walking distance from waterfront. Was here 35 years ago and old world glamour still part of the stay. No frills- pay for parking and breakfast, single ice tray, but clean and comfortable. Hope to come back sooner next time.

Pros: The staff is amazing..love the location...was on the 7th floor facing the park..just found the room a little small if you wanted to sit to read
Cons: I would have liked a bigger room with a chair to read or watch TV.....
Location: Perfect for the band tattoo, Citadel, Smitty's and the amazing Garden across the street
The staff was more than helpful....loved that we had a washer and dryer on site and a computer/business room..

Classy hotel

Pros: There is a restaurant and same-day,laundry service. It's large yet small enough to guarantee privacy.
Location: Opposite a park. Near a bus stop. Short taxi ride to waterfront, MacDonald's and other restaurants and shops around the corner. Shuttle to airport.
I was warmly welcomed at the front door, and helped to settle in and begin getting to know Halifax by the accommodating front-desk staff. They printed a map for me, and took the time to point out how I could get from the hotel to my main place of interest. And, by their recommendation, I took in the hoover hopper tour and learned so much Halifax history.

Hotel Review

Pros: The hotel greeting staff and desk staff. The lobby and the attention to detail it was maintained
Cons: Booked room could have stood to be brought up to the quality of the hotels lobby
Location: Hotel is situated well and close to almost everything Halifax has to offer. Public Gardens outside the main entrance to the hotel.
This hotel has a great façade. The lobby is as if walking into a five star hotel. However the room booked through Travelocity had much to be desired. The room consisted of a view of three walls and the sky. The room had heavily stained but well vacuumed carpet. The beds were 6 out of 10 comfortable with a very wrinkled dust ruffle at the bottom of both beds. One pillow case although washed had some kind of stain on it and should have been thrown away and never put back on the beds. The furniture was mismatched and very worn and scratched. The bathroom although worn was as clean and cared for as possible.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting

This was my first time to Canada and I must say that I had an enjoyable stay. I was a little worried because I was going to a place I have never been but it was recommended by a friend. It is a beautiful hotel which has been renovated. The room and bathroom were very clean. I must admit that Halifax is a little expensive but the hotel is in walking distance from many restaurants and stores. There is also a drug store close by and one that is open 24/7. Downtown is not too far from the Lord Nelson. There is a variety of food from Turkish to Indian. The hotel food was also very good. I order room service for breakfast everyday. And the staff was extremely friendly. I wish there was a microwave and a refridgertor in the hotel so that I didnt have to throw out food after paying money for it at a restaurant but that was not an option. This to me is an essential ammenity. Parking was the only thing I had a problem with as it was $20 a day. The Canadian dollar is par the US. I felt like if I am staying at a hotel and paying for a rental why should I pay for parking. Other than that I had a beautiful view of the garden. I didnt use the internet services or gym so I can speak of that but I had an enjoyable experience and I would stay there again.

Nice hotel. Undergoing renovatoins

Would definately stay here again. Very comfortable after the renovations and the staff was very heloful. Only downside was that I could hear my neighbors However, I have stayed there many times and that only happened once. Maybe they were just unusually loud.
