I arrived at 8.45pm (Sun) to check in. There was a security gate, I pressed all the codes and called the numbers, nothing. After 20 minutes a home owner came out and punched in the code for me. I arrived at the Lobby at 9.10pm, the lights were off and the door was locked. After 10 minutes, I tracked down a security guard, he opened the door and said, I’m not expecting anyone this evening. I showed him my reservation and he looked and found my paperwork. 35 minutes after arriving I got into my room. I went to the Lobby the next morning at 9.08am and again the door was locked and no one was around. I tried to cancel my 3rd night a few days before my arrival. Hotels.com told me to speak with the Hotel and the Hotel told me speak with Hotels.com. I was dealing with the Reservations Manager, he did nothing to help me resolve this. On Tuesday morning the receptionist told me I had been left two voice messages, I was playing golf at Bighorn and the reception was horrible, so I did not get those messages. Julian did say he he had managed to call Hotels.com to cancel my 3rd night, but at this time, I have heard nothing and as far as I can work out, I have been charged for all 3 nights. A little frustrating to say the least.

This is mostly a retirement community complex. Not many families unless renting one of the units. It's better suited for someone that has multiple people staying and wants appliances to cook and eat in. Room is dated and in need of renovation.

Bed was hard , half of tennis courts( clay ) awful. My room stared at them . Outside porch light couldn’t be turned off. My shades didn’t close all the way. Pool bottom had yellow algae in it. Jacuzzi dirty with foam…2star hotel at best. Disappointed . Location great and tv new! Will not return…

Shadow Mountain truly felt like a home away from home — offering the freedom and comfort of a private rental with the convenience and amenities of a full-service hotel. We enjoyed our stay at Shadow Mountain Resort. Our villa was comfortable, spacious and clean. It’s an older resort which is reflected in the style, but it seems to be maintained well. We were in a two bedroom and while one bed was comfortable, the other was on the hard side. It would be great if places like this would offer a topper to be added under the bottom sheet for those who prefer a softer mattress. There were a couple of minor things that could use attention: the carpet while kept clean is needing replacing (unit 615); it’s at the age where it’s crunchy shag. Also the sliding shutter doors weren’t working very well and could use some maintenance. We kind of gave up trying to open them because it seemed they might break. All in all, though, it was a nice stay and we hope to return and have time to use the pool which looked very inviting.
