Gorgeous hotel built with lots of attention to detail, decorated with tasteful furniture and unusual artwork. Rooms are very spacious and with comfortable mattresses (we stayed in 2 different rooms during our 7 night stay, both had a nice large balcony overlooking the river). Hotel is located on a quiet street away from the hustle and bustle of Zona Romantica and the Malecon. We did hear barking dogs during some nights, but otherwise it was very peaceful. Lots of amenities: heated infinity pool and a bar on the rooftop with stunning views, jacuzzi on a different level, plus 2 more pools elsewhere on the property. Front staff was wonderful (thank you, Javier!). The staff all spoke good English and were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast is served in a beautiful dining room located in the original part of the hotel [which used to be a private house], and though relatively simple, it was well prepared. Would love to stay there again!

Lovely property and usually quiet. Unfortunately there was a street party with a live electronic band that played till 1 am. Hotel called cops but made no difference.

Overall: This property is not for everyone. (We stayed at the Cortez suite; we're a family of four from Alberta, Canada and stayed there for 3 nights and 4 days) LIKED -The staff were great they were really helpful, gave recommendations, and were very accommodating. They granted my request to have a little something for my Mom's 50th birthday. -The location is superb tho it still kinda "far" relatively so I won't recommend this for those who don't want to walk. -The rooftop pool is good, it is also a plus that it is open 24 hours so you can swim anytime; welcome drinks could be better but they do the job and the bartender is a fun guy. -The design is okay but honestly it is not for everyone. My brother and my Dad didn't like the rustic design because it was a bit dated and they look dirty. -They store your luggage even after the check out time. DISLIKE -As mentioned the place looks dated and worn out, one of the washrooms in the Cortez suite (the one below) had clogged tub which was really icky; the washroom on top had really low pressure. -The extra bed was not as comfortable and the sheets and towels were not as clean.

Very nice location on quiet street. The hotel decoration is lovely, the service was excellent, the breakfast superb. The view from the rooftop bar is fabulous. We loved it and will definitely stay here again.

If you're looking for a charming and intimate stay rather than a large resort, I highly recommend this hotel. The decor is eclectic and fun, and the staff is warm and helpful. The hotel is conveniently located just a 15-minute walk from the beach and directly across from Isla Cuale. Our room had a balcony with a lovely view of the river and Gringo Gulch. The rooftop pool and bar offer amazing views, and we enjoyed watching the full moon rise over the mountains from the rooftop jacuzzi. It was exactly what my daughter and I wanted for our first trip to Puerto Vallarta, and we will stay here again!

Great location in the Romantic Zone. Within 10 min walk of the beach. Tons of restaurants. Easy access to Centro (but hills are involved). Facing the river so it's quiet. The hotel inself is very cool. It's quirky, eclectic and has a lot of it's old world elegance intact. We stayed in the Green Room. One of the smaller rooms (part of the original building), it doesn't have a deck or patio but is located next to the lower (unheated) pool/bar area. I spent many pleasant mornings sitting at the pool with my coffee. There is a 2nd (heated) pool on the top of the relatively new tower which has another bar and great views to the west (great for sunsets) and across the river to the north. The staff is great (Jesus at the roof top bar was full of information about Puerto Vallarta and makes a delicious margarita). Breakfast available.....$12US for full breakfast and $7 for continental. However, there are so many breakfast options within a 5 min walk that we only ate at the hotel once.

Ivan and Jesus were incredible! Also, I forgot his name and a staff member gave me a hundred pesos for my cab ride. I couldn’t recommend this hotel more! They were so kind, helpful, and attentive.

I made a last minute decision to go on a a trip to Puerto Vallarta for my first time. Since it was a last minute booking over Christmas, the options were limited. This place looked nice but I was surprised they had last minute availability so I booked it on a wing and a prayer hoping it would be okay. Immediately upon arrival I knew I'd hit the jackpot. I really don't think there is anything I can say that hasn't been said by others, but I was blown away by this hotel. It felt more like staying at a (really rich) friend's home than a hotel, everything was so personalized and gorgeous. A couple friends joined me on the trip and we all agreed that we did not anticipate spending as much time at the hotel as we did, but the rooftop pool with the world's greatest bartender, Jose, was very hard to leave. I can't wait to come back.
