Lovely old family home
Welcome to our lovely old, quaint, spacious home in a safe, historic neighborhood in Rochester, New York. We are right across the street from the famous Highland park. We are walking distance from the University of Rochester, College Town and the hospitals. Very close to restaurants, shops, theaters, and the Strong National Museum of Play, one of the greatest places to visit at any age.
We enjoyed the opportunity to have our pups join us on this mini-vaca with family from our of state. The home is clean and comfortable and convenient to all Rochester has to offer.
Fine location between historic Mt Hope cemetery and Highland Park, just up from the EllwangerBarry neighborhood. Sole wish: it was VERY cold, and I couldnât find any heat
The property fit our needs. Having stayed in a lot of homes in Rochester this was the most sparse. The furnishings and beds were comfortable. The basics like paper towels bath tissue were nearly nonexistent. The mattress cover and sheets didnât quite fit on the beds. No extra towels
and no hand towels. For a house that sleeps
6 or more, there were only 4 plates and bowls. With just a few things attended to this would be a five star review.
The property is as described. No issues accessing the house and the location makes it easy to reach U of R and Highland Park. 3 bedrooms makes it easy to sleep 3-4 kids separate from parents.
The house does smell like smoke. The house was well cleaned, but the smoke smell was throughout.
This is our second stay and the house was great! There were new towels and we really appreciated the AC. My kid loves the upstairs room and the location across the street from Highland park is great for walks after work and during the day.
Three generations stayed here while visiting Rochester family. The space was comfortable and convenient. Off street parking available for three cars. Location only blocks away from a nice walking park and also a smoothie place down the street at the corner. Convenient to downtown but quiet and tree lined.
Highly recommended.
We only had three of us staying here for UofR's graduation weekend, so we had lots of extra space. It's in a great location for UofR and college town. Graduation fell on the Lilac Festival weekend, which is basically across the street. We did hit a little traffic because of that, but it was so easy to stop in and see the festivities. The house was very comfortable, and two full baths is a big plus. As others have said, it's fairly basic, but we had all the towels and other supplies we needed. Everything was in working order. The third floor bonus room with Ms. Pacman is a fun plus. The host is extremely prompt in replying to all messages. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it.
The house has just the very basics and no extras, but it was clean and manageable. Host was very responsive to questions and the location was perfect for us
Cute, very clean home in a quiet area. We appreciated that it was dog friendly. Super comfortable bed and little extras in the kitchen such as dish & hand soap, paper towels, even shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the bathroom. We could also pack light knowing there was a washer and dryer to use. Overall a great place to stay!
This is an older home near Univ of Rochester. The location was generally convenient for where we needed to be (RIT). Pros: The game/TV room in the attic has a Ms. Pacman game which was fun. The dining table was conducive to card playing in the evenings. The beds were reasonably comfortable, however, the fitted sheets didn't stay on well and bunched up overnight. Cons: there are limited to no amenities including kitchen towels (none), 4 plates (for a home with 6 beds), nowhere to sit/hang out in the backyard, couldn't figure out how to put the front porch light on, the downstairs shower could be cleaned better. You can tell this is a rental property.
The owner has provided the bare minimum or less in terms of essentials. All in all I am giving this property 3 stars because the fun attic doesn't make up for the lack of everything else. Although I value having rental properties as an alternative to hotels, I'm not sure I would stay here again; there would have to be no other options available.
This older house is comfortable, clean, and spacious for four adults. The house is in a quiet neighborhood and a great location close to everything downtown, a short walk and you are in Highland Park. It was perfect for our visit to the area!
The house is a lovely Rochester foursquare and exactly what we expected from the description and photos. It's in a great location, especially if you're going to be doing anything on the University of Rochester campus or if you're planning to attend the Lilac Festival (the house is literally across the street from Highland Park). My kids especially appreciated the third floor "rec room" type area with a television and an arcade machine.
We are a family of five, two adults, and three children ages 5, 2, and newborn. The third floor was a perfect play space for our children. The property is perfectly located next to Highland Park and within walking distance of several coffee shops and restaurants. We loved it!
We stayed 2 nights in Allison's sweet home. It's very close to campus & she was super helpful and communicative! It's such the better way to go than getting 2 hotel rooms. We had space to relax, play games in her cool kids loft and made our family's transition to college way less stressful! Thank you!
We went to the PGA Championship and the house was in a great location for the Championship parking as well as close to many restaurants. Plus you can park 2 cars in the driveway as street parking is limited. Allison was responsive right away if we had questions.
I liked this property very much, it is comfortable, roomy and surrounding area is safe and quiet. The only criticism I have is there were no spare toilet paper (almost ran out) and paper towels (barely sufficient), and no tissues in either bathroom hence using paper towels as tissues. There was no additional stock available that could be located. Also, as others have noted, why not add a few more coffee mugs in the cupboard. This being said, I would likely visit again. Please provide some spare stock of these cheap items.
A well maintained home with old charm and modern conveniences. We came up to visit our son at RIT, but weâre tired of hotels. This was perfect! I donât remember if the park was mentioned in the write up, but it was beautiful, we walked over there each day.
The house was comfortable with ample seating to accommodate many more people than was in our group of 5. It's in a quiet neighborhood, a very short walk to restaurants and was conveniently located to our venue. I would have been nice if there were more items like coffee cups, one for each adult guest.
Overall, a positive experience for my first vrbo rental.
