The front desk/reception staff were extremely nice. The staff gave me a free upgrade option and even let me tour two different rooms to help make my choice. However, what they call a cozy king is a pretty small room. There's a bed, a table/chair and a closet cabinet (that's it!). It is useful to know in advance that the rooms are extremely small. I opted for a room on the 1st floor and the road noise/noise from the Little Italy area was not a bother after 10pm. The hotel is conveniently located within a block of the Santa Fe depot station as well as bus stops to go to the airport and the zoo. Walking to the seaport village, Little Italy, and the Gaslamp took 15-20 minutes each (very doable).

The building is beautiful, the area for breakfast is quite uncomfortable as there are no many tables, I appreciate the options in the menu are quite outstanding, my check-in was fast but the room assigned wasn't clean, so I had to go downstairs again and ask for another one, the staff was super friendly and helpful, it would be good to have another type of windows as the room view was to the patio, I couldn't open the blackout curtains at all, maybe those ones with two way mirror would be better.

Great property to stay at when visiting San Diego. Close to all major food places and transportation options. We were upgraded to a small suite, which was nice. However, they did not replace the sheets or give us any toiletries when we first checked in. There were stains and hair between the sheets; it was disgusting. When we asked for toiletries, it took 7 different calls before everything was actually delivered, when we asked for all of them at once. Besides, this initial hiccup, it was wonderful.
