The location, affordability, and overall condition of this boutique hotel on Condado Beach are all awesome. The room decor was nice, but there are some areas to improve. There were no storage or shelving options in the bathroom for personal items. We had to go downstairs twice to get a working physical key for the room. However, the air conditioning was great and made the room temperature very comfortable. The main issues we had during our recent two nights day in January 2026 pertain to the non-functioning smart TV (it never connected to the Internet and we never received assistance to fix it), toilet issues which thankfully resolved themselves, but which were never addressed directly by staff, and overall low water pressure. The staff in all other respects were welcoming and helpful, and we will definitely stay at The Canario again. Just hope they continue on upgrading their offerings when possible. Thank you.

The room/bed was clean. But, the window screen was broken and the window itself partially open & wouldn’t close. The bathroom doorknob was very hard to use. There is no elevator so be prepared to walk up a narrow staircase and no porters. That being said it is a very convenient location and friendly staff. It is very near the beach and restaurants, bars, etc. but, if you want to sleep before midnight, look elsewhere. Reasonable prices.

This boutique served its purpose. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t terrible. Some negatives: no elevator so be prepared to carry your luggage up a few floors, very small room. I chose a king bed and that left limited space to get around the room especially when you have two large suitcases. The positives:

Staff were incredible, accommodated a very late check in, gave great recommendations on where to find affordable food/sundries. The hotel is loaded with charm, walls covered in oversized Chagall prints. We rented the Queen Superior room (#207)-the bed was soooo comfortable-firm yet soft. I way overslept because it was so great! The shower & baths were very small-built into what I expect were once closets (the actual door to the shower was a closet door!!) which added to the charm but would be terrible for a plus-sized traveler. Also-there is no elevator so you’re carrying your luggage up the stairs-request ground floor if you cannot do this. The outside patio area was perfect for our midnight snack hour. Everything was super clean. AC was cold, worked well. Door locks were a little wonky but they’re working on repairing. Aldo-no room safes present. Perfect location with groceries, drug stores, and restaurants within a block. LOVED THIS HOTEL STAY!

Excellent location in Condado. Close to stores, restaurants and the beach. Nice courtyard area to relax in. Staff very friendly Cons: No elevator, low water pressure in the shower, lots of traffic noise if your room faces Ashford Ave. as ours did. The winding mechanism on the window was broken and the window would not close. Sleeping was difficult but beds were very comfortable. Good price for the location.

The room was very clean but old. The lady that welcomed us was very nice and professional. The guy that checked us out was very accommodating as well since our flight didn’t leave for several hours after check out. The only issue we had was that the TV comes on but you can’t get any channels and it was late so we didn’t bother. Otherwise, it was a nice stay. I see a lot more potential if a little updating is done to the rooms. It’s a great little place.
