This hotel made me feel UNWELCOME

Pros: Free Internet
I'm a 22 year old business professional in Vancouver on business. This hotel was booked by my company and paid for before I had even arrived. Walking up to the check in desk I was greeted by a man in his mid-late twenties with darker hair, I am unsure of his name but he told me that protocol need a credit card and ID in order to check in. When I asked he said he just needed an imprint, so I quizzed him again. Would he be putting anything on my credit card? After fifteen minutes of going back and forth I finally got my answer. He wanted me to authorize the hotel to put a $300 deposit on MY credit card. My hotel was already paid for in full. I don't know if it was because I looked too young to be staying in a fancy hotel or perhaps he simply likes taking advantage of tourist. Or maybe he was just sexist? But there was no way I was letting the hotel put a $300 charge on my credit card. After, now nearly twenty minutes, the guy changed the amount fro $300 to $100. If it's company policy, how can this guy just magically change the amount needed? I sat in the lobby for 45 minutes of talking to my bosses, finally we decided to just put the $100 on my credit card. I am unimpressed with the hotel's policy. Why tell me you need an imprint of my card if really you plan on charging $300? If I hadn't pushed this guy would he have just charged to $300 to my card without me knowing? Isn't that fraud? Wouldn't I be in for a surprise when I walked down to get a bite to eat only to have my card declined. This was terrible customer service, I don't ever plan on staying here again. Neither does my company, friends or family.

Nice hotel with a great location.

Easy to find and a great location, 2 blocks from the Arabia into downtown and fun events at the pier. A choice of restaurants to walk to.

Nice Place

Pros: Clean room, good bed, good shower. Easy check in.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Don't have much to say. Didn't really have the opportunity to explore.
Stayed here on the eve of a cruise. Probably not the most convenient location but a $25 cab ride to the cruise ship port wasn't too bad. There is also a "Sea Bus" which isn't a bus but a water shuttle. An option if you're not too heavily baggaged (which we were). But it's a good hotel. Travelocity sort of made it appear closer to the embarkation pier than it really was and the ride we also arranged acted like we were crazy for staying there. But it all worked out. Good hotel, good area.

Good overall, can be difficult for kids.

Hotel was good, clean and good location. Right by the seabus into the city. We used all their public transit and it was a great location for that. The challenge was the food offerings nearby, now I like new things but kiddos do not. So it was difficult to find food for them. Hotels options were expensive and also too "froo froo" for kids. The pool was too chlorinated, IMO, and it had lanes for lap swimming. I think it is geared towards the condo owners that share the facility. I didn't interact too much with the staff specifically, they seemed pleasant when I did.

The choice for exploring the North Shore!

We spent five nights at the Pinnacle.  We were upgraded to a harbor view room--and that view was breathtaking! The room was plenty big for the two of us, our four pieces of luggage, and lots of camera equipment.  We used the refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, and microwave every day.  The bathroom was well-lit (many new-ish hotels have club-like lighting) and perfectly equipped.  The bed was super comfy and had the best linens we have ever slept on.  Room service was quick and yummy--we did not eat in the restaurant itself.  Every single staff member we encountered was friendly and incredibly helpful--in particular the maintenance man who lent my husband some tools to fix his tripod.  Finally, don't let the location put you off--we spent most of our time exploring the North Shore sites with a rental car and used the Seabus to go directly to downtown Vancouver when we wanted to have fun in the city.  The Pinnaclel puts you right in the middle of some great restaurants and steps away from the market, which was very nice and far less crowded than others we have visited.  We definitely hope to return again and again.
