The hotel is in a convenient location for walking around Vancouver or catching a bus. It is an older building with character and clean. My room had a private bath. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have a secure luggage storage.

When booking this "hotel", no where did it say that the bathrooms are down the hallway. There is only a sink in the room. The shower on our floor was out of service, so my girlfriend had to go downstairs to shower. There's no sink in the men's restroom. If you poop, you must wait to wash your hands. They only had thin, disposable, wooden eating utensils. The three desk workers that I spoke to were friendly, but knew very little about the area. Honestly, the elevator was the nicest thing about the property.

We had the pleasure in staying at the Kingston Hotel in Vancouver both before and after our cruise. We loved it's historic charm and elegance, the Fables Restaurant right next door, and friendly, helpful staff. We will stay there again when visiting Vancouver.

Full of character

Full of olde worlde character. You even have a proper key to your room and the window opens for fresh air. Tea and coffee are served in the ground floor lounge. No bar. No kettle in room but a good restaurant right next door and IGA on the corner. Shsun the manager had lots of helpful local information like picking up the vintage trolley one block away at the beautiful Public Library.

Location is great. But front desk staff needs to be trained to provide clear information and not be odd or question hotel guests (1. Checking in: front desk staff member, holding my credit card: Can you please tell me your name? 2. Ringing front door doorbell to be let in at 11 pm after a show, holding up key to show staff member, staff member unlocks door and asks: Are you staying with us? 3. Overheard: Front desk staff member checking in two Japanese women with shopping bags in their 60s or 70s: And please, no late night partying or guests in your room, ok?). This hotel, to me, is not worth the money savings. Live and learn. Vancouver is an expensive town so for a little more money, stay at another hotel nearby downtown where the customer service isn’t bizarre and the hotel is not stuffy and humid, old, and odd. Funky is good for many things but my overall impression here is that the issue isn’t an unfair assessment of a “quirky” and “classic” or “not a soulless, chain behemoth” hotel, but instead just a poorly managed one.

It was a bit of a rocky experience. Some trouble with the parking situation, and the front desk staff was not very helpful. Small room and very thin walls. We could hear our neighbors and feel their footsteps. I expected much better for a room that cost me $260+ dollars. Was very unhappy, but they did agree to let us switch to a room with a private bathroom once the manager stepped in to assist. But with the extra charge this stay cost over $400. And given that I’ve had much smoother experiences for less than 100$ with nicer facilities it was overall a disappointment. I had hoped that I was paying for a premium experience given then high cost and was left regretting that I had spent so much.

Downtown Vancouver close to water street

This was a comfortable play to stay! We booked a room with shared bath down hall, which isn’t a problem with a sink in our room. Friendly staff and they keep everything clean! There is a sauana..but we didn’t have to use it.
