The rooms at the hotel were clean and functional. We liked that they used Dove products which were excellent for a family with sensitive skin. The pool was small and a bit cold, but our young child still enjoyed it. The poor ratings relate to the shuttle, location and general customer service. There is no instruction to call for the airport shuttle. After waiting 10 minutes we called the first number we found on the website and were told the shuttle comes every 13 minutes. We waited another 10 and dug further to find the local phone number and spoke to the shuttle driver who said it would be 18 minutes, which in the end turned into over 30. The shuttle is really just an old van. While the hotel appears close to the airport it took 18 minutes to drive there with no traffic, and we passed another Holiday Inn that was much, much closer - the name “Calgary Airport” is very misleading. There is nothing nearby. They gave us free breakfast to compensate for the shuttle confusion, which was appreciated. We arrived at 9:32 pm and were told our only food options were delivery because the restaurant kitchen closed at 9:30. We ran to the restaurant with all our luggage to see if they would make something we could take to the room and were pleasantly surprised to find out they don’t close until 11 pm. Clearly lacking some communication between departments. Kids eat free and dinner was quite good. The breakfast is good for a free breakfast, but I wouldn’t pay for it.
