The Neighborhood:
Commonly known as âFoodie Row,â the Hawthorne/Buckman District places you within walking distance of a wide variety of top-notch local flavors, with no chain restaurants in sight! Make new friends over vegan poutine fries and grilled PB&Js at the Cartopia food cart pod, indulge in delicious wings right around the corner at Fire on the Mountain, share a pie at Apizza Scholls (consistently voted Portlandâs favorite pizza), or enjoy a fancy night out at Castagnaâall within a 1.5-mile stretch.
Portland isn't just for foodies. Hawthorne boasts a vibrant indie spirit, with numerous made-in-Oregon shops and boutiques to explore in this hipster haven. Catch a movie at Bagdad Theater and Pub, a revamped 1920s theater turned view-and-brew venue, serving local McMenamins food and microbrews.
If bar hopping isnât your idea of fun, head up to Mt. Tabor, a 196-acre city park atop a dormant volcano vent. Here, you'll find miles of hiking trails and incredible panoramic views of the city. Whether youâre into dining, shopping, or outdoor adventures, the Hawthorne/Buckman District has something for everyone. Enjoy your stay in this eclectic and lively neighborhood!
