I liked that it was near the Las Vegas Blvd. I did not like that the room had a bad odor and the safe combination did not work. The safe issue was reported to the front desk staff immediately with no response. The odor was reported at check out. Also the air conditioner never got cool enough.

They were overbooked and tried to give us a smoking room but my wife has asthma so they upgraded us to suite! Front desk person was understanding and very professional! Thank you so much

When we checked everything seemed to be ok until we got to our room. The room was outdated and had burn marks on the chairs and couches. Saturday we got security at our door claiming that we could not smoke in a smoking room but he wasn’t not talking about cigarettes he was talking about marijuana!!! When I showed him our room and informed him that my husband was smoking a cigarette he let me know that Jenny whom was the one that checked us in stated that we smelled of marijuana and should be watched!!! No sooner had he left our room we then got another call from the front desk stating again that there are complaints, that there was going to be a note made on our account and again that Jenny said to watch out for us. All of this happening within and hour of returning from lunch. After feeling degraded and targeted we checked out of our room early. Ironically it was Jenny who checked us out and had the audacity to ask why we were leaving on such short notice. This by far is one of the worst experiences My husband and I have ever had coming to Vegas!!!

The first room we checked in had no AC. When the engineer came, he found out that AC (plumbing) was not on and cannot be turned on. At past midnight, we were sent to another room, which had its fan on, but the temperature was 75F. The engineer insisted it was room temperature and was correct. We told him it was not, and showed him that it was on "fan" setting, not "cool" setting. After setting it to "cool", it worked. But in 15 minutes, water began to drip from the ceiling. We reported it to the front desk, but told him that we were not going to move but will instead put towels on the floor until the next day. On the next day, we placed buckets at placed where dripping took place, and left a message for the housekeepers. But when we came back at past 8 pm, the room was not cleaned. It turned out that the front desk had no record of the room change. The same routine started again: an engineer was sent over, as a housekeeper. The engineer told us it was not dripping due to condensation on the AC plumbing, but instead it was water supply. The housekeeper told us she did not know the room was occupied at all. By the way, the front desk staff that checked us in the first day was not very forthcoming. She did not offer any info on wifi and map. It was only after we asked for a local map did she gave us a brochure, which has an inset that listed the wifi info. This hotel has serious management issue. One person in our party ate at the hotel restaurant and liked it.

Love the Royal

The Royal is my favorite place to stay in Vegas because the pool and hot tub are open year round and heated. I do have to say that though, the pool was chilly the last of our four days!!! This has never happened in all of my many stays. Either the heater broke or they turned it way down, this needs to be remedied, please!!! We also love that the hotel is next door to both the Peppermill/Fireside Lounge and the little taco place on the corner. And Ross! We also walk to the Stratosphere for happy hour and walk to the heart of the strip. Staff is friendly and no hotel fee. Lastly, you can bring food and drinks to the pool area, saves a fortune. We’re heading back in two months, really hoping the pool is warm again, so important!!

Nice hotel with nice people

Pros: Only a mile from the Sands convention center. Free parking and easy access.
Cons: Update the aging rooms, add a microwave, free wifi that has some speed to it.
Location: Located between the old Las Vegas and the newer Las Vegas. Close to the Stratosphere and Circus Circus.
I was in town for a week long trade show. This hotel is 1 mile north of the Sands Convention center so it was very convenient. As a guest I get 20% off at Denny's, too. I didn't use any of the hotel amenities. This was basically a place to sleep and work. At the time I stayed they were in transition from Timeshare to Hotel. No free wifi so I can't rate the quality. The rooms were a little old and so was the furniture. There is a small dorm room size refrigerator but no microwave. Hair dryer, iron, ironing board, and coffee maker was on hand for us road warriors. There were no light switches for the main room, just the bathroom and hallway. I had to leave a light on so when I returned in the PM, I don't trip on things getting to the bed or table. The patio door opened to let in some air but it's not a balcony. You can't really step out there. There is a pool and spa. The spa was popular with some of the guests. I did not partake. For a sub-$100 room during a busy trade show month, the value is definitely there. This is hotel is just a few steps above a "motel". The staff is awesome, though. Jenny at the counter is funny and we goofed with each other every day she was there. Nice lady. Actually, the entire staff I engaged with was very nice.
