I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless you specifically want to stay in a historic building. It is just not convenient, has no amenities, the check in process and parking situation are inconvenient, you can’t sit on the toilet and actually close the bathroom door, etc etc. Rooms are big and clean though, but mine smelled like vomit.

I was unable to gain entry to the hotel, so I was left stranded and had to find another hotel at the last minute. I completed their check-in form online, but never received any info on how to get into the hotel. When I arrived, the door was locked and there was nobody on-site to assist me. I called the phone number listed on the door, but it went straight to VM. I left a message but never received a call back. I texted the number on the door and they told me to resubmit the form, which I did several times, but still did not receive any info on how to check in. So I ultimately had to walk around downtown Long Beach with all of my luggage to try to find another hotel.

The fact that there is ABSOLUTELY no human element here is a shame. A historic site like this one should have a warm and friendly host to greet. Everything is online and barely so. Phone numbers given do not work, no return call from our message. We were one attemp (of four) from just going to the Courtyard across the street but finally figured out how to get our access code.
Also, a charming old hotel does not need to have bedding, towels, and hair that are also 100 years old!?!?
